About Victoria Chinatown Care Centre
Victoria Chinatown Care Centre is a 31 bed long term care Home that has served Victoria’s Chinese community since 1982. Located in the heart of Canada’s oldest Chinatown, the Home provides culturally sensitive, person-centred care that celebrates Chinese language, cultural traditions, and community connections.
The Role
As a Social Worker, you will support older adults and their families by providing psychosocial assessment, counselling, case management, advocacy, and care planning services. Working as part of an interdisciplinary team, you will help residents navigate complex health, social, emotional, and life transition challenges while promoting dignity, choice, independence, and quality of life. You will collaborate with families, community partners, and health care professionals to coordinate services, support admissions and transitions, advocate for resident needs, and contribute to quality improvement initiatives that enhance resident-centered care.
What You Bring
Bachelor's Degree in Social Work and current professional registration in BC.
Two years of recent related social work experience, preferably with older adults.
Experience in assessment, counselling, case management, and interdisciplinary team practice.
Strong communication, relationship-building, and organizational skills.
Ability to speak Cantonese or Mandarin is an asset, but not required.
Must be eligible to work with vulnerable adults under the BC Criminal Records Review Program and have a negative TB Screen.
As an independent contractor, you are responsible for obtaining and maintaining all required insurance coverage, including professional liability insurance. Proof of coverage must be provided before services begin.
Hours of Work and Compensation
The Social Work contract is for a maximum of 4 hours per week at $60.00 per hour. Hours of work will be negotiated with the successful candidate.

Experience:
- recent related clinical: 2 years (preferred)
Licence/Certification:
- Bachelor of Social Work (BSW) from an accredited School (required)
