The Canadian Coast Guard (CCG) is a special operating agency within the Department of National Defence (DND). We work to ensure the safety of mariners in Canadian waters and protect Canada’s marine environment. We support Canada’s economic growth through the safe and efficient movement of maritime trade. We help to ensure our country’s sovereignty and security through our presence in Canadian waters. The Canadian Coast Guard’s Western Region Fleet offers dynamic careers and exciting opportunities to sail over 25,000 km of British Columbia’s coastline, as well as in the Canadian Arctic, the Mackenzie River, and Lake Winnipeg, contributing to the stewardship of Canada’s vast and rugged 243,000 km of coastline.
Our fleet consists of 13 vessels and 16 strategically located lifeboat stations. We play a critical role in ensuring the safety of mariners and protecting the marine environment by delivering essential maritime services using ships, hovercraft, and small craft.

Candidates who are hired must be willing and able to travel from their place of residence to designated vessel’s home port at own expense.
