Job Summary
.Reporting to the Accountant, the Accounting Assistant is responsible for financial and administrative duties to ensure effective and accurate operations of the Accounting Dept.
Responsibilities
- Verify receipt of raw materials; confirm date and BOL weight vs. actual weight of material received.
- Match purchase orders to vendors invoices; confirm prices, quantity and code with General Ledger account #.
- Obtain proper approvals from respective purchasers.
- Enter all Accounts Payable invoices in accounting system for payments.
- Communicate with vendors regarding invoicing discrepancies and payment inquiries.
- Reconcile vendor statements.
- Process monthly cheque run from approved payment list.
- Create and/or update reports, trackers, and spreadsheets.
- Update and maintain vendor information files.
- Maintain Accounts Payable document files.
- Post Accounts Receivable Payments.
- Order office and kitchen supplies
Qualifications
Candidates for this role should have:
· Strong written and verbal communication skills
· Strong customer service, planning, and organizational skills.
· Able to work independently.
· Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications is expected; familiarity with Microsoft Great Plains Accounting Software or similar computerized accounting software is a must.
· Familiarity with Business Central or an inventory purchase / sales order tracking software.
· Meticulous attention to detail and accuracy.
· Strong organizational and planning skills.
· Information collection and management skills.
Education
- College/university with major in Accounting or Business Administration
Experience
Minimum 2 years experience
