Responsibilities
Production:
- Plan, coordinate, and manage daily production activities to meet customer orders, inventory targets, and delivery deadlines.
- Monitor production flow and adjust staffing, equipment usage, or processes as needed.
- Provide supervisor/support staff with strong leadership and career development.
- Ensure all products meet company standards for quality, consistency, and presentation.
- Oversee all plant personnel including bakers, operators, and packaging personnel.
- Create staffing schedules and manage labour to align with production needs and budget.
- Foster a positive and collaborative work environment with a strong focus on safety and performance.
- Enforce food safety, sanitation, and workplace safety procedures (HACCP, GMP, OSHA).
- Conduct regular product, equipment, and facility inspections.
- Partner with Quality Assurance teams to address defects, implement corrective actions, and maintain audit readiness.
- Identify opportunities to improve production efficiency, reduce waste, and optimize workflows.
- Implement standardized operating procedures (SOPs) and best practices.
- Lead root‑cause analysis for production issues and drive process enhancements.
- Coordinate with maintenance to minimize downtime and schedule repairs.
- Manage ingredient and packaging inventory, support procurement by monitoring usage and forecasting needs.
- Collaborate with supply chain, sales, and logistics teams to align production with demand.
- Track key performance metrics (yield, waste, labour efficiency, downtime, output rates).
Qualifications
Required
- 5+ years of experience in food production; commercial bakery experience strongly preferred.
- Strong leadership skills with experience supervising hourly teams.
- ERP/MRP System required.
- Solid understanding of bakery processes (mixing, proofing, baking, cooling, packaging).
- Knowledge of food safety regulations and best practices.
- Ability to multitask and problem‑solve in a high‑volume environment.
- Strong organizational, communication, and time‑management skills.
Preferred
- Experience with lean manufacturing, Six Sigma, or continuous improvement principles.
- Experience managing semi-automated bakery machinery or industrial production lines.
- Experience running a 24-hour shift.
