Prep and Porter Job Summary:
Maintaining the cleanliness of the kitchen, handling kitchen equipment, and assisting the kitchen staff as needed. Diligent, efficient, and able to work in a fast-paced, demanding environment. Ensure the kitchen is clean, well-organized, and fully stocked at all times. Prepping for all items on the menu as given by the Head Chef or Line Cook. Having a positive and learning attitude. Complete all tasks given diligently and on time.
Prep and Porter Duties:
· Ensure the kitchen is clean and sanitized
· Unload deliveries and organize the storeroom
· Wash dishes, utensils and cooking equipment when needed
· Complete all prep tasks given by the Head Chef and Line Cook mentioned on the prep list.
. Assist the counter staff with packing, serving, replenishing and cleaning at all times
. Replace counter staff if necessary
· Dispose of waste and boxes appropriately
. Clean the guest and staff washrooms at regular intervals
· Ensure food supplies are stored properly and used resourcefully
· Maintain kitchen appliances and work surfaces to the required hygiene standards
· Report any serious incidents, such as equipment failure or food safety issues, to the head or sous
Prep and Porter Requirements:
· No formal qualification is required, but previous Indian kitchen and cleaning experience is a must.
· Ability to work in a high-pressure environment
· Understanding of food safety practices and basic knife skills
· Excellent time-management skills
· Team spirit and good communication abilities
Physical Requirements:
· Prolonged periods standing, bending and cleaning procedures.
· Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs at times.
· Must be able to work in a kitchen environment that may involve exposure to extreme heat or cold.
