Job Description:

Overview

These positions are expected to start in fall of 2026. We are hiring for various indoor pool locations including the Cowan Recreation Centre.

The Aquatic Assistant supports aquatic staff in delivering programs and ensures a safe environment for the wading pool and waterslide. This role involves supervision, accident prevention, public education, and assisting with various tasks and events.

Responsibilities

Assists aquatic staff in the delivery of aquatic programs.
Ensures a safe aquatic environment for wading pool and waterslide through supervision accident prevention and public education.
Ensures compliance with Ontario Health Regulations and all relevant legislation and Policy and Procedures manuals.
Takes appropriate action to deal with incidents, problems and emergencies as outlined in Divisional policies and procedures.
Assists with minor First Aid as required.
Assists with the completion of paperwork.
Informs patrons of policies related to entry onto deck area.
Assists with special events.
Conducts routine change room checks.
Performs other related duties as assigned.

Experience

1 month of related experience.

Additional Requirements

Must provide a satisfactory Police Vulnerable Sector check at your own expense as a condition of employment.
Current Lifesaving Society Bronze Cross certification.
Current Lifesaving Society Assistant Instructor certification or Lifesaving Society Swim Instructor certification.
Current Lifesaving Society approved Standard First Aid and CPR Level “C”
Reliable with a good attitude and employment record.
