Job Summary:
Fleet Canada is seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Senior Methods Planner to support aerospace manufacturing planning, estimating, and process development. In this role, you will be responsible for analyzing technical drawings, developing manufacturing procedures, preparing cost and material estimates, and ensuring all planning activities meet engineering, customer, quality, and configuration control requirements.
The ideal candidate has strong aerospace manufacturing knowledge, experience working with technical documents and shop floor processes, and the ability to plan work independently with accuracy and confidence. This position requires strong organizational skills, technical understanding, communication, and the ability to work cross-functionally with Engineering, Production, Quality, Document Control, and Supply Chain teams.
Key Responsibilities:
- Analyze and interpret aerospace drawings, prints, specifications, and technical documents.
- Prepare detailed manufacturing planning for parts, assemblies, composites, and fabrication processes.
- Develop integrated manufacturing procedures and work instructions to support production requirements.
- Estimate costs for assembly, composites, fabrication, manufacturing, inspection, and related processes.
- Obtain cost and material estimates from subcontractors and suppliers as required.
- Plan the flow of parts through manufacturing while ensuring quality, engineering, and customer requirements are met.
- Support MRP system activities, including tool orders, item masters, planning, and document control functions.
- Ensure planning aligns with required material finishes, processing requirements, inspection needs, and customer specifications.
- Use CAD data and technical documentation to support accurate planning and process development.
- Conduct work measurement, time studies, work simplification, and related process improvement activities.
- Collect and compile operational data to assist in developing estimates, schedules, specifications, and reports.
- Prepare cost estimates, material estimates, project schedules, reports, and planning documentation.
- Support cost reduction analysis and identify opportunities for improved efficiency.
- Work closely with shop floor teams in Assembly, Composites, and Manufacturing to support production needs.
- Visit other facilities as required to coordinate work and support fabrication activities.
- Ensure configuration control requirements are maintained in accordance with contracts and customer expectations.
- Provide technical guidance and planning support to internal teams as required.
- Perform other related duties as assigned by the company.
Qualifications/Experience:
- 3 to 5 years of related on-the-job experience in methods planning, manufacturing planning, aerospace manufacturing, or a similar technical environment is required.
- Experience reading, understanding, and interpreting aerospace prints, drawings, specifications, and technical documents.
- Strong knowledge of manufacturing processes, assembly, composites, fabrication, and shop floor workflow.
- Experience preparing manufacturing plans, work instructions, cost estimates, material estimates, schedules, and technical reports.
- Working knowledge of MRP systems, item masters, planning processes, tool orders, and document control functions.
- Ability to use CAD data to support manufacturing planning and process development.
- Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Project.
- Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering certificate, diploma, or degree is considered an asset.
- Strong organizational, analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail.
- Knowledge of quality standards, customer requirements, WHMIS, and Health & Safety practices is an asset.
