The job opportunity available is for a certified Therapy Assistant within the Wetaskiwin Home Care Team based out of the Wetaskiwin Hospital. The department is looking for a qualified individual that is able to provide Therapy Assistant full time to Home Care and Assisted Living supporting the Occupational Therapy and Physiotherapy team members mostly. The successful incumbent may be expected to support other Allied Health Teams within home care. They must be confident, and able to work both as part of a team and individual. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to interact with the interdisciplinary team, patients and families in a dynamic health care setting. As a Therapy Assistant, you will work both individually and as part of an interprofessional team under the assignment, monitoring and evaluation of an audiologist, occupational therapist, physiotherapist, recreation therapist or speech-language pathologist. You will contribute to effective and efficient rehabilitation services including direct and indirect client care across the health care continuum (healthy living, getting better, living with illness and disability, end of life care) for all ages as well as non-client service provision. This role will require you to work effectively with internal and external partners, and display professionalism and strong ethics in both client centered care and participation in care teams. Required Qualifications:
Completion of diploma from an accredited post-secondary rehabilitation Therapy Assistant program or equivalent training may be considered.
Additional Required Qualifications:
Heart & Stroke: Basic Cardiac Life Support – Healthcare Provider (BCLS-HCP). A Class 5 driver's License or non GDL are necessary for this position.
Preferred Qualifications:
Preference will be given to those with a diploma from an approved post-secondary rehabilitation Therapy Assistant program that includes Occupational Therapy and Physical Therapy.
