Summary of Duties:
Reporting to the Health Director/ Assistant Director, the Program Coordinator provides support in the planning, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation of the Lil'wat Ways of Healing from Trauma program. This program focuses on trauma healing through traditional wellness methods and clinical services, to meet people where are at, and promote a strengths-based approach. The Program Coordinator assists in ensuring continuity of care, including trauma-informed practices, outreach, and crisis response services. This role prioritizes supporting the healing of First Nations and Aboriginal individuals and families, contributing to the overall mental health and wellness services for the community.
Key Deliverables and Expectations:

Support the development and delivery of communication strategies in partnership with the Program Director/ Health Director. Ensure clear and culturally appropriate communication with stakeholders and address any issues proactively.

Assist in developing processes for reporting, measurement, quality assurance, and the long-term sustainability of services provided by the program.

Engage with internal and external partners, Southern Stl’atl’imx communities, and FNHA Vancouver Coastal regional communities to help to define program scope and evaluation criteria. Assist in coordinating the allocation of resources, including staff, contractors, and budgets.

Support the Program Director/Health Director in developing joint solutions to address local health and wellness needs, collaborating with communities and partners to enhance service delivery and ensure alignment with community priorities.

Coordinates meetings with internal staff and key stakeholders within regional health systems, providing support for the Program Director/ Health Director to ensures alignment of work plans and health programs, and facilitating discussions to address any challenges or opportunities for improvement.
- Assist in managing program budgets and contracts, ensuring fiscal responsibility and the efficient use of resources.
- Maintain a thorough understanding of mental wellness practices, particularly as they relate to Indigenous populations. Stay informed of current programs, services, and best practices for mental health and trauma-informed care.

Performs other duties and responsibilities as necessary in the performance of the position and as assigned by the Health Director/ Assistant Director.
Experience and Attributes:

An associate’s degree in a related discipline, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.

Experience in mental health program management and planning, with specific experience in trauma-informed care and traditional wellness practices is an asset.

Experience in working with First Nations and Aboriginal communities to address mental wellness and provide culturally sensitive care.

Knowledge of health and wellness governance in First Nations health, particularly regarding mental wellness and trauma-informed care.

Understanding of mental health and wellness needs facing BC First Nations, as well as relevant programs and services available.

Experience in responding to mental health emergencies and applying trauma-informed practices is an asset.

Experience in providing advice and recommendations regarding mental wellness to practitioners and clients is an asset.

Familiarity with the principles of mental wellness, suicide prevention, and mental health emergency response.

Knowledge of First Nations culture and a commitment to cultural safety, humility, and respect.

Ability to meet deadlines prioritizes assignments, multi-task and maintain confidentiality.

Excellent interpersonal skills, ability to work well with others, and promote a collaborative environment.

Basic understanding of project management (PM) and change management (CM).

Strong proficiency in Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel & PowerPoint. Past experience with HRIS is an asset.
- Motivated self-starter and with strong interpersonal skills.

Valid BC Class 5 Driver’s License, a clean Driver’s Abstract, and a reliable vehicle.

Must be able to provide a clear Criminal Record Check, including the vulnerable sector.
