We are seeking an energetic, community-focused Youth Coordinator who is passionate about helping youth thrive.
Reporting to the Youth and Recreation Supervisor, the Youth Coordinator plans, delivers, and evaluates engaging programs, activities, and events that promote physical, mental, emotional, and cultural wellness, leadership, education, recreation, life skills, and personal growth. Working with youth, families, Elders, and community partners, the role creates safe, inclusive spaces that build confidence, self-reliance, cultural identity, and belonging while responding to emerging community needs. The Youth Coordinator promotes connection to land, culture, and community through workshops, land-based learning, activities, and events, while ensuring youth voices are reflected in program development and service delivery.
POSITION DETAILS
This is a permanent full-time position, with a wage range of $22.27 - $26.72 plus enrolment in our comprehensive benefits package, eligibility for vacation and other time off, and other benefits outlined in our total compensation philosophy.
QUALIFICATIONS
You are a good fit for this opportunity if you possess the following qualifications and experience:
- Lived Experience residing in or working for a First Nation, specifically supporting the development of children and youth in a culturally sensitive and relevant manner is an asset.
- Diploma in Human Services, or a related field.
- One to two years of Youth Coordination or similar work.
- Knowledge of the Mental Health Act and Child and Family Act.
- Basic proficiency in using computers: Microsoft 365, Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and various video conferencing platforms.
- Valid driver’s license (BC Class 5) and satisfactory driving record.
- Criminal records check (vulnerable sector).
- Emergency First Aid Certificate, and approved Level 1.
Applicants must be legally authorized to work in Canada for the duration of employment. Preference may be given to applicants of Aboriginal ancestry in accordance with Section 16(1) of the Canadian Human Rights Act.
