What You’ll Be Doing
You’ll work alongside experienced Powerline Technicians and begin developing the skills needed for a lasting career in the utility trade, including:
- Installing, repairing, and maintaining overhead and underground power lines
- Working with insulators, conductors, switches, transformers, and more
- Using rubber glove and hot‑stick procedures for safe line maintenance
- Setting up and maintaining poles, towers, and guy wires
- Responding to emergencies caused by inclement weather
- Performing live tension stringing and underground cable pulls
- Inspecting and testing power lines with electrical test equipment
- Operating heavy utility equipment like bucket trucks and digger derricks
- Building strong relationships with utilities and the public
- Working safely at heights, in confined spaces, and in all weather conditions
This is a physically active, hands‑on role—perfect for someone who likes a challenge and doesn’t want to sit behind a desk.
What You Bring
- A desire to build a stable, long term future in the powerline trade
- Experience in related fields (Arborist, Equipment Operator, Electrician, Mechanic etc.)
- A diploma or certificate in a Powerline Technician program is an asset
- A clean driving record and at least a DZ licence (preference given to AZ/AZR)
- A positive attitude, strong work ethic, and willingness to learn
- Comfort working outdoors, at heights, and in a team‑driven environment
