Tutoring Solutions is looking for a knowledgeable, compassionate Orton-Gillingham tutor to support students who struggle with reading, spelling, decoding, and written language.
We provide personalized in-home and online tutoring throughout Windsor–Essex County. Our families are looking for someone who understands that learning to read does not come easily to every child and knows how to provide structured, encouraging instruction that builds both skills and confidence.
ABOUT THE ROLE
As an Orton-Gillingham tutor, you will:
- Provide individualized, multisensory reading and spelling instruction.
- Support students with dyslexia, reading difficulties, ADHD, and other learning needs.
- Create lessons based on each student’s abilities, goals, and progress.
- Teach foundational literacy skills, including phonemic awareness, decoding, encoding, spelling patterns, and reading fluency.
- Develop positive, supportive relationships with students and their families.
- Communicate professionally about student progress and instructional goals.
- Keep your tutoring availability updated through our online scheduling system.
- Deliver sessions online, in students’ homes, or at another agreed-upon location.
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR
Required:
- Completed Orton-Gillingham training or formal training in an equivalent structured, multisensory literacy approach.
- Experience supporting children with reading difficulties, dyslexia, or other learning differences.
- Strong knowledge of explicit, systematic literacy instruction.
- Excellent communication skills and a patient, encouraging approach.
- Ability to work independently and manage your own availability.
- Current Vulnerable Sector Check or willingness to obtain one before beginning.
- Reliable transportation if providing in-home tutoring.
Preferred:
- Ontario Certified Teacher status, a degree in education, or relevant specialist qualifications.
- Orton-Gillingham certification, supervised practicum experience, or advanced structured literacy training.
- Experience supporting students with ADHD, autism, dyslexia, or individualized education plans.
- Availability for after-school, evening, or weekend sessions.
- French-language skills are an asset but are not required.

POSITION DETAILS
Position: Part-time independent contractor.
Location: Windsor–Essex County, Ontario, and/or online.
Compensation: $50–$75 per hour, depending on qualifications and experience.
Session length: Generally 45–60 minutes.
Start date: September 2026.
