Main Responsibilities:
· Develop and distribute engaging content including public education and awareness materials on childhood sexual abuse (CSA) through Heartwood’s website, newsletters, social media, and community outreach.
· Coordinate and support the delivery of workshops, webinars, and educational sessions, including Foundation Building Webinars and Responding to Disclosures of Childhood Sexual Abuse training.
· Assist with the ongoing development, evaluation, and improvement of educational programming, resources, and impact measurement tools.
· Support scheduling, coordination, and community requests related to workshops, presentations, and outreach activities.
· Build and maintain relationships with community organizations, partners, and service providers to strengthen collaboration and awareness of Heartwood’s services.
· Represent Heartwood at community events, resource fairs, and networking opportunities.
· Contribute to the organization’s communications planning to ensure timely promotion of public education initiatives and events.
· Engage and collaborate with staff and facilitators in the co-development and delivery of public education opportunities.
· Coordinate organization involvement in community events and causes such as Pride, Red Dress Day, Orange Shirt Day, etc.
· Provide regular updates, reporting, and progress summaries to the Community Program Manager.
Qualifications:
- Post-secondary degree in social work, education, communications, or related field (or equivalent lived/work experience). Combinations of relevant education and diverse experiences will be considered.
- Experience (paid or volunteer) in community outreach, education, communications, or non-profit work is an asset.
- Demonstrates knowledge of harm reduction, impacts of colonization, mental health, gender-based violence, and trauma related to childhood sexual abuse.
- Working knowledge of a wide range of healing approaches from diverse worldviews.
- Prioritizes anti-oppressive practice and demonstrates self-awareness in this area.
- Strong organizational, planning, and time management skills.
- Non-judgemental and accepting attitude with the ability to maintain client confidentiality.
- Strong communication and facilitation skills.
- Computer skills: Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and Teams. Experience with Canva an asset.
- Satisfactory Criminal Record Check and Child Abuse Registry Check.
- Access to transportation and driver's licence is preferred
