Position Summary
Reporting to the Field Superintendent, the Crusher Operator is responsible for the safe, efficient, and productive operation of crushing and screening equipment at remote aggregate production sites. This position requires experience with crusher setup and teardown, routine inspections, equipment maintenance, material handling, and aggregate production activities.
The position operates on a 3-weeks-on, 1-week-off rotational schedule at remote camp-based projects. Accommodations, meals, and transportation to and from site are provided by the company.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Assist with the setup, mobilization, teardown, and demobilization of crushing and screening plants.
- Operate crushers, screeners, conveyors, and associated plant equipment safely and efficiently.
- Perform daily pre-operational inspections and routine maintenance on crushing and screening equipment.
- Change screens, crusher liners, wear parts, belts, rollers, and other consumable components as required.
- Relocate and adjust conveyors to maintain efficient plant production and stockpile management.
- Feed crushers and screening equipment using loaders while maintaining consistent material flow.
- Load, manage, and stockpile feed material and finished aggregate products.
- Monitor crusher performance and make adjustments to optimize production and product quality.
- Maintain housekeeping around the plant, including shoveling and cleaning around belts, conveyors, and crusher components.
- Lubricate equipment and perform routine preventative maintenance.
- Inspect, clean, and record belt scale readings daily.
- Report equipment issues, required repairs, and wear part requirements promptly to supervision.
- Maintain accurate daily production, maintenance, and inspection records.
- Communicate effectively with loaders, ground personnel, and supervisors to ensure safe and efficient operations.
- Operate crusher control towers and plant control systems (tower experience is considered an asset).
- Adhere to all company safety policies, procedures, and provincial regulations.
Qualifications, Experience and Skills
- Minimum 2 years of experience operating crushing and screening plants.
- Experience with crusher setup, teardown, and plant maintenance.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and experience changing wear parts, screens, belts, and other crusher components.
- Experience feeding crushers using wheel loaders and managing aggregate stockpiles.
- Tower/control room operating experience is considered an asset.
- Ability to work safely and follow established safety procedures.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in remote work environments.
- Ability to perform moderate to heavy physical labour.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Valid driver's license required.
