Duties
Strategy Implementation and Project Management (15%)
- Implement fundraising and donor engagement strategies
- Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of fundraising communications and apply insights to improve future campaigns
- Stay informed on trends, developments, and best practices in donor relations
Content Development (70%)
- Plan and prioritize content for upcoming campaigns and deliverables
- Write and edit persuasive, donor-focused materials, including appeals, newsletters, landing pages, email campaigns and stewardship communications
- Translate complex program information into clear, engaging stories that honour the communities MCC serves and invite meaningful donor responses
- Conduct interviews with skill and sensitivity to support content creation
- Ensure all content aligns with organizational voice, brand guidelines, and ethical storytelling standards
- Collaborate with fundraising, communications, and program staff to develop fundraising collateral
- Optimize content for digital platforms, including email, and web, where appropriate
Administration and Meetings (15%)
- Ensure that the gospel of Jesus Christ is exemplified in the performance of all job responsibilities and through personal example
- Participate in regular staff meetings, spending time in devotions and prayer with all in attendance in local MCC setting
- Model nonviolent peacemaking through daily interactions with staff and the public
- Participate in a local church and gatherings, being willing to use his or her gifts within the local faith community
- Maintain organized project files and documentation
- Support reporting and administrative processes
- Some domestic travel is required
Contact/Relationships:
The Fundraising Copywriter works collaboratively with Communications and Donor Relations colleagues across MCC Canada and with program staff nationally and internationally to develop donor focused communications that accurately represent MCC’s work.
Supervision:
No supervisory responsibilities.
Complexity/Competencies:
The position requires the ability to synthesize complex program information into clear, compelling communications for diverse audiences while balancing multiple priorities and deadlines. The incumbent exercises sound judgement when communicating sensitive issues, demonstrates strong attention to detail, and effectively navigates MCC’s organizational structure. Familiarity with AI supported writing tools and the ability to use them ethically and appropriately to enhance efficiency is an asset.
Independent Action:
The Fundraising Copywriter works with a high degree of independence while managing multiple concurrent projects and competing deadlines. The incumbent exercises initiative and sound judgement in planning and prioritizing work, while ensuring accuracy, consistency and alignment with organizational priorities.
