SUPPORTED INDEPENDENT LIVING - Manager
New Directions is a social service agency offering a wide range of resources and services that provide supports in a variety of settings and foster people’s hopes and dreams in their communities.
Supported Independent Living (SIL) is one of the many services offered by New Directions. SIL provides supports to adults who may have intellectual disabilities and/or mental health challenges and choose to live independently in the community. SIL focuses on encouraging people to live as members of their community. Program participants are the focus and lead the strengths-based approach that includes a trauma informed perspective. The SIL team encourages self-determination and support in identifying and achieving goals based on a person’s needs and wants.
The Manager is responsible for planning, implementing, monitoring, and evaluating all SIL services. This includes identifying service gaps, collaborating with program funders, and developing proposals for new initiatives. The Manager is also responsible for providing leadership to and supervision of a team of coordinators, supervisors, case managers and CRWs. Also, this position is accountable for preparing and managing the service area’s current budget of approximately 8 million dollars annually, in collaboration with New Directions’ financial team.
This position oversees the operations at the Broadway location (in Winnipeg) as well as community-based support, which includes developing policies and procedures specific to the service area, managing overall staffing needs (hiring, evaluating and managing end of employment supported by Human Resources) and overseeing crisis response. This position represents SIL within the New Directions’ Agency Management Team, in addition to funders and other related organizations.

The successful applicant will have, as a minimum:

Undergraduate degree with extensive experience working collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders;

Minimum 5 years of progressive management experience in leading strategic change initiatives.

Comprehensive understanding of person-centered frameworks, including a case management model of service, and a drive to ensure support is implemented;
-
Experience working with and supporting individuals with intellectual/developmental disabilities who have complex needs and who experience multiple barriers, including those impacted by poverty and addiction;

Experience working in collaboration with property managers, and familiarity with common property management practices;

The ability to implement and monitor service evaluation;
-
Extensive knowledge of related operations within the Department of Families;

A demonstrated awareness and appreciation of diverse cultures and traditions, as well as anti-oppressive practices; and
-
A strong understanding of financial management and comfort in the regular use of Microsoft Office products, including SharePoint and Office 365, and various online information systems.

Fluency in American Sign Language is considered an asset.

A valid Class 5 Driver’s License and access to a reliable vehicle is considered an asset.
The salary range for this full-time permanent 70-hour biweekly positions is $44.2665 to $54.4523 per hour (equivalent to $80,565.03 to $99,103.19 annually), dependent upon education and/or experience. A full benefits package (which includes Health and Dental Benefits, Long Term Disability, and a Pension Plan) is provided to permanent full-time staff.
