Excavator Operator – Water and Sewer

The Excavator Operator for the Underground Division is one that will add limitless value to our current service delivery. Exemplifying our code of values, you show respect and courtesy to all customers and fellow employees.

Ideally you have prior experience in Underground work – Excavation, Digging and Pipe Laying. You have proven communication skills with supervisors, colleagues, and customers. You are self-motivated, thrive in a fast-moving environment, and able to manage time to effectively meet deadlines.

Specific Responsibilities:

Perform excavation for our water and sewer line replacement jobs

Help with the other labour related duties at the job site

Shoring installation

Perform minor maintenance to Underground Equipment

Keep company vehicle and equipment properly serviced, clean, and in good working order and condition

· Complete a daily checklist pre-trip for any work vehicle

· Ability to read and interpret drawings and blueprints

· Follow pipelayer hand signals and direction

· Inform Foreman if conditions are not safe

Job Requirements:

Valid Class 5 Driver's License, with the ability to pull trailers and drive excavator and/or Dump Truck to and from job site. Class 3 would be an asset

Excavation experience (Backhoe, Mini Excavator or Skid-Steer use, Sewer and Water contractor experience, etc.)

Ability to operate basic hand tools

Attention to detail

Excellent communication skills

Professional appearance and personality

· We work when our customers need us - evening and weekend shifts may be necessary and without apology
