Pembina Veterinary Hospital is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Part-time/ casual Veterinary Assistant to join our team. We are a privately owned, general practice and 24-hour emergency hospital that sees patients from all over Manitoba. The ideal candidate will possess a strong passion for animal care and welfare, along with the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced veterinary environment. As a Veterinary Assistant, you will play a crucial role in supporting our Registered Veterinary Technologists and Veterinarians in ensuring the comfort and safety of our patients.
Duties
- Assist veterinarians during examinations and procedures using proper animal restraint techniques.
- Assist RVT’s in multiple areas including: blood draws, radiographs, preparing patients for surgical procedures and many other various treatments and procedures.
- Provide compassionate care to animals, ensuring their comfort and cleanliness, including medically monitored walks for hospitalized patients.
- Delicate and precise handling of deceased patients.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the clinic, including sterilizing equipment and managing supplies as well as keeping up with general cleaning duties and hospital laundry.
Qualifications
- Candidates with previous experience as a veterinary assistant or in a similar role will take precedence.
- Strong interest in animal care and welfare with a keen eye for detail.
- Basic knowledge of veterinary terminology and procedures.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Ability to interact with clients and team members effectively as well as in a kind and compassionate manor.
- Strong work ethic with the ability to work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment while maintaining composure and accuracy.
- Flexibility to work various shifts, including weekends or holidays as needed. *CURRENT NEEDS ARE WEEKENDS*
Pay: $16.00-$17.00 per hour
