Overview

Join our dedicated team as a Respite Worker and become a vital support for individuals with disabilities and their families. In this rewarding role, you will provide temporary relief to primary caregivers by engaging with clients in a safe, nurturing environment. Your enthusiasm and compassion will help foster independence, promote positive experiences, and ensure well-being for those you serve. This paid position offers an opportunity to make a meaningful difference while developing your skills in caregiving, teaching, and support.

Continuing Care Assistant (CCA) certificate, Personal Support Worker (PSW) certificate, Health Care Aide (HCA) certificate, or an equivalent caregiving qualification is considered a strong asset.
Previous experience providing care or support to adults with disabilities, mental health conditions, or individuals requiring assistance with activities of daily living is an asset.
Current First Aid and CPR certification is an asset.
Criminal Record Check and Vulnerable Sector Check are required before employment.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Reliable, compassionate, patient, and able to work independently.
Ability to assist with personal care, meal preparation, medication reminders, housekeeping, and community activities.
Valid Saskatchewan driver’s licence is an asset.

Responsibilities

Plan and facilitate engaging activities tailored to each client’s interests and abilities,
promoting social interaction and skill development
Support clients with daily routines such as mobility, communication, hygiene, and recreational activities
Collaborate with families, caregivers, and team members to ensure consistent care plans and address individual needs effectively
Maintain detailed records of client progress, activities conducted, and any incidents or concerns that arise during shifts
Ensure a safe environment by adhering to health and safety protocols at all times
Provide emotional support to clients, fostering a positive atmosphere that encourages independence and confidenceSkills
Experience working with individuals with disabilities or in caregiving roles
Prior experience working with children is highly desirable
Strong teaching skills to effectively guide clients through activities and skill-building exercises
Excellent communication skills to collaborate with families, team members, and clients
Patience, empathy, and a positive attitude to support diverse needs in a respectful manner
Ability to adapt quickly to changing situations and individual preferences
Basic knowledge of health and safety procedures relevant to caregiving environments
