Title and Authority/Reporting

: General Warehouse Labourer

: This role reports directly to the Operations Coordinator. This position has no direct reports.

General Description of the Role

The Warehouse Labourer role is responsible for completing all work orders, assembly or machining, and all other tasks provided by the direct supervisor, lead hand or manager as needed. This role is heavily based on Assembly in the warehouse. This role will support fellow workers in the shop as needed. Customer service is always the main goal of any role at Calcana.

Role Accountability

· Ensure work is being conducted in a safe manner.

· Model the proper wearing of PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) and adherence to all safety policies.

· Take direction from the Lead Hand and Operations Coordinator as to priority tasks.

· Identify and escalate barriers to completing work in the warehouse.

· Adhere to standard operating procedures and escalate to the supervisor if they need to be updated.

· Ensure adherence to all corporate and warehouse operational policies, processes and procedures.

· Ability to anticipate and prepare for customer needs.

· Make Customer service their priority.

Specific Tasks

· Label boxes

· Fill Warehouse orders, interact with Customers on a daily basis while picking their orders.

· Operate mechanical lift, forklifts, dollies, and pallet jacks. As well as minor machining/operating a brake press, welder, spot welder, shear, and any other machine as required.

· Store, count and weigh orders.

· Open materials received and put away. Share in receiving duties.

· Dispose of leftover packing materials. Keep workstation clean and tidy

· Manual loading and unloading of materials. 50-75LB

· Assemble Calcana heaters by following work orders given.

· Working in the ERP system on a computer or tablet.

· Pack and prep heaters for shipment. Including building crates.

· Pick and pack customer orders and assist with walk-in customers.

· Welding, metal forming using equipment and machines in warehouse.

· Create shipping paperwork when needed and book freight companies for pickups of customer orders. Share in shipping duties.

· Update and communicate any SOP (Standard Operating Procedures) changes to the supervisor.

· Assist the Operations Coordinator or any supervisor or lead hand in the training of new hires ensuring they follow all health and safety measures in place and are aware of any hazards before they begin work.

· Keep the warehouse and yard clean, organized and hazard free as much as possible.

Skills and Experience/Qualifications

· A dedicated individual who understands the importance of quality and good customer service.

· Someone who follows policy, process and procedures.

· Someone with solid organizational skills.

· Able to identify opportunities for process improvement and implement change.

· Someone with attention to detail. Team player but can work alone when required.

· Forklift trained.

· Knowledgeable in safe pallet, racks and stacking

· Knowledgeable in utility knife safety

· Experienced with picking and packing orders. Experience working in an assembly environment.

· Dependable, flexible

· Knowledge in using power tools and air tools.

· A High School Diploma

· Product knowledge testing/quality control procedures

· Previously driven a forklift, is familiar with driving a forklift. Forklift Ticket preferred.

· Solid computer skills. Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.

· 1 year experience working in a warehouse / supply chain / assembly environment an asset.

· Has worked or is familiar with large machinery such as brake presses, punches and shears.

· Noise safety

· Knowledge of Business Central ERP system or other inventory systems

· First Aid

· Forklift certificate

· Production and manufacturing experience

· This position requires the incumbent to work onsite 100%.

· No travel required.
