Role Overview: The Flavorist, reporting to the R&D Director, will be responsible for creating, developing, and optimizing customized aromatic solutions to meet clients' needs. This full-time, on-site role at our Dollard-des-Ormeaux, QC location involves conducting sensory evaluations, participating in research and development projects, and applying food science and technology principles. The Flavorist will also act as a technical expert across departments, ensuring that all creations are aligned with production and quality standards.

Key Responsibilities:

Flavor Creation & Development: Develop, create, and duplicate aromatic solutions based on client requests and ongoing R&D projects, ensuring the optimization of existing and new recipes for production without compromising quality.
Project Management: Continuously follow up on projects with the sales department and clients to ensure alignment with expectations and timelines.
Industry Trends: Monitor and analyze current and upcoming trends in the flavor industry to keep knowledge up to date and to innovate continuously.
Quality & Stability Improvement: Analyze issues encountered during development to improve the quality and stability of aromatic recipes.
Client Interaction: Prepare and participate in client presentations, offering training, trends analysis, and product development support.
Collaboration: Work closely with the food technologists' team on sampling, ensuring proper laboratory and sample production management.
Inventory Management: Maintain an adequate inventory of ingredients and laboratory equipment to ensure the efficiency of the creation process.
Flavor Library Management: Ensure the maintenance and expansion of the company’s flavor library, incorporating new creations and optimizing existing ones.

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in food science, Chemistry, or a related field.
Minimum of 5 years of experience in the flavor industry, with a strong foundation in flavor chemistry and formulation.
Experience with sensory evaluation, laboratory techniques, and R&D within the food industry.
Apprentice certification from the Society of Flavor Chemists (SFC) is an asset.
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
Strong problem-solving, analytical, and organizational skills.
Ability to work effectively within a team and to communicate complex information clearly.
Organoleptic sensitivity with a strong ability to memorize and differentiate smells and tastes.

Responsabilités principales:

Création et développement d'arômes : Développer, créer et reproduire des solutions aromatiques basées sur les demandes des clients et les projets de R&D en cours, en assurant l'optimisation des recettes existantes et nouvelles pour la production sans compromettre la qualité.
Gestion de projet : Assurer un suivi continu des projets avec le département des ventes et les clients pour garantir l'alignement avec les attentes et les délais.
Tendances de l'industrie : Surveiller et analyser les tendances actuelles et futures de l'industrie des arômes pour maintenir ses connaissances à jour et innover continuellement.
Amélioration de la qualité et de la stabilité : Analyser les problèmes rencontrés lors du développement pour améliorer la qualité et la stabilité des recettes aromatiques.
Interaction avec les clients : Préparer et participer aux présentations clients, offrir des formations, des analyses de tendances et un support au développement de produits.
Collaboration : Travailler en étroite collaboration avec l'équipe des technologues alimentaires sur l'échantillonnage, en assurant une gestion adéquate du laboratoire et de la production d'échantillons.

Qualifications:

Baccalauréat en sciences alimentaires, chimie ou dans un domaine connexe.
Minimum de 5 ans d'expérience dans l'industrie des arômes, avec une solide base en chimie des arômes et en formulation.
Expérience en évaluation sensorielle, techniques de laboratoire et R&D dans l'industrie alimentaire.
