The Calgary Winter Club is seeking a Head Coach for our Sea Sprites Artistic Swimming Program. This is a full‑time position requiring availability on evenings, weekends, and for domestic and international travel.
The Sea Sprites (SS) Artistic Swimming Program is a developmental and provincially focused pathway supporting skill progression, enjoyment of the sport, and balanced participation. Athletes have opportunities to advance to national‑level competition if desired.
Reporting to the Head of Aquatics, this role leads athlete development, coaching staff, and program administration while ensuring alignment with Canadian Artistic Swimming (CAS), Alberta Artistic Swimming (AAS), and Calgary Winter Club policies and values. The salary range for this position $60K-$70K per annum.
Key Responsibilities
1. Program Leadership & Technical Direction
- Develop and implement a comprehensive artistic swimming pathway aligned with LTAD and national/provincial standards
- Lead planning, delivery, and performance outcomes across all program levels
- Provide direct coaching and supervision of athletes and coaches
- Guide routine development and uphold technical standards
- Oversee testing, evaluations, and progression benchmarks
2. Coaching Leadership, Development & Succession (Critical Requirement)
- Hire, mentor, evaluate, and support all Sea Sprites coaching staff
- Build and maintain a long‑term coaching development and sustainability plan
- Ensure coaches meet NCCP requirements and progress through CAS/AAS pathways
- Lead coach education, mentorship, and performance management
3. Athlete Development & Culture
- Foster a positive, inclusive, and supportive training culture
- Multi‑sport philosophy — Promote Sport for Life principles and long‑term athlete retention
- Women in sport leadership — Champion athlete leadership and holistic development
- Wellness support — Support physical, mental, and emotional well‑being
4. Communication & Stakeholder Engagement
- Communicate effectively with athletes, parents, and staff in alignment with CWC standards
- Ensure all program communication uses approved CWC platforms and branding
- Lead meetings, updates, and feedback processes
- Address questions and concerns promptly and professionally
5. Training Camps & Travel
- Camp planning — Lead all domestic and international training camps
- Logistics & budgeting — Coordinate schedules, budgets, and external partnerships
- Safe travel experience — Ensure high‑quality, safe training and travel environments
6. Budgeting, Administration & Operations
- Develop and manage the annual program budget with the Head of Aquatics
- Oversee scheduling, registration alignment, and resource allocation
- Maintain accurate participation, performance, and financial reporting
- Ensure adherence to CWC policies and risk‑management standards
7. Collaboration & Governance
- Work with the Head of Aquatics on strategy, staffing, and priorities
- Cross‑department collaboration — Partner with CWC departments and staff
- Governing body liaison — Act as liaison with AAS and CAS
- Competition coordination — Oversee competition participation and coordination with organizers and officials
- Policy implementation — Support adherence to all CWC and governing body guidelines

Pay: $60,000.00-$70,000.00 per year
