Veterinary Assistant

Location: Lake Country, BC

Tri Lake Animal Hospital & Referral Centre in Lake Country, BC, is welcoming a dedicated full-time Veterinary Technician Assistant to join our team. We want great team players who enjoy a fast-paced environment and are passionate about making a REAL difference in the lives of our patients and clients.

As we continue to expand our ER department to 24/7 services, TA shifts will range from daytime to evening and include overnights, as well as shared weekend shifts. Of course, should a night owl emerge with a preference for overnights, the option for a strict overnight schedule is always available. Otherwise, the sharing of these shifts via rotation helps to maintain a healthy work-life balance for ALL!

What you need

Previous veterinary experience is a considerable asset
Exceptional client service skills that build trust and loyalty with clients
Strong communication skills and ability to work with a dynamic and diverse team
Compassion and nurturing attitude when providing care to clients and patients
Ability to remain calm and efficient in stressful situations
Positive outlook and enthusiasm for learning
Initiative in carrying out assignments independently

Your role will be

Assisting Veterinarians and Technicians with client support and treatment of pet patients, including low-stress restraint techniques
Providing support to the Client Care service, occasionally covering shifts in reception when necessary
Preparing medications and supplies for clients to take home (per DVM and RVT instruction)
Providing compassionate care to hospitalized patients, including feeding and walking
Handling and maintaining surgical equipment, including setup, cleaning and sterilization
General hospital care including cleaning kennels, restocking treatment areas, and maintenance of outdoor areas
