Dispatch Support Specialist – Part-Time (Toronto)
Designs by Nature Gems | Centre for Social Innovation, 192 Spadina Ave, Toronto | $22/hour | 15 hrs/week to start
About Us
Designs by Nature Gems (DbNG) is a handcrafted natural gemstone jewelry brand sold across Amazon USA, Amazon Canada, Etsy, and Shopify. We are a small, close-knit team that moves fast, cares deeply about quality, and takes pride in every order that leaves our hands. Our founder has been featured in British Vogue across three consecutive 2026 editions.
We are proudly based at the Centre for Social Innovation — a vibrant community of businesses and nonprofits committed to building a healthier economic ecosystem for Toronto, Ontario, and Canada. Our workspace reflects those values.
The Role
We're looking for a detail-oriented Dispatch Support Specialist to join our team part-time, with a clear pathway to full-time at 90 days. This is a ground-floor opportunity to grow with a scaling brand.
Reporting directly to the Founder & CEO and COO, you will support order dispatch, customer communication, and operational coordination — keeping things running smoothly across our sales channels.
Language Requirement
Strong written and spoken English is essential. You will be communicating directly with customers regarding product questions — including pendant styles and gemstone details — as well as coordinating with shipping carriers on dispatch and delivery matters. Clear, professional, and warm communication is a core part of this role.
What the First 90 Days Look Like
- Days 1–30: Product and platform familiarization. At least 5 hrs/week are dedicated learning time — no sink-or-swim here. Primary platforms: Shopify, Etsy, Chit Chats, and DHL.
- Days 30–60: Quality control and process ownership, with hours growing to 20–25/week.
- Day 90+: Transition to full-time discussed based on performance and fit. Amazon Seller Central introduced at this stage.
Compensation & Growth
- $22/hour to start
- Performance raises at 6 and 12 months
- Raises discussed at contract renewal thereafter
Benefits
Benefits eligibility begins 6 months after reaching 20 hours/week. Based on our onboarding structure, this is anticipated around the 8-month mark. Benefits include:
- Dental care
- Extended health care
- Life insurance
- Disability insurance
- Paid time off including Sick Days
- Commuter benefits
- Discounted or free food (CSI community perk)
- Store discount
- Casual dress
Schedule
Tentatively Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday. This is an in-person role at our CSI office.
You're a Great Fit If You:
- Have experience in customer service, order coordination, or e-commerce operations
- Have worked with a highly detailed product before — such as jewelry, gemstones, skincare, specialty food, vintage goods, handcrafted items, or similar — where product knowledge and careful handling are part of the job
- Are familiar with shipping platforms such as Chit Chats, DHL, or similar
- Are highly organized with strong attention to detail
- Communicate clearly, warmly, and professionally in writing
- Work well independently and take initiative
- Are reliable, accountable, and aligned with a values-driven brand
To Apply
Please submit your resume and a brief note on why this role appeals to you. Applications without a cover note or completed skills assessments will not be considered.
