As the Senior Structural Engineer, you will spearhead the development of our innovative mass timber building platform, which will form the foundation for a diverse range of building typologies that Intelligent City is introducing to the market. You will oversee all aspects of structural development while ensuring seamless integration with envelope design and MEP (Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing) systems. In addition, you will collaborate closely with our manufacturing and software development teams, as well as the architecture and product development teams, to ensure a cohesive approach throughout the design and implementation processes. This role requires strong project management skills and effective cross-functional collaboration, contributing to broader departmental strategies.

Bachelor's degree in civil/structural engineering, building technology, or related fields.

Registered as a Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) with EGBC status

10+ years of experience in structural engineering, prefabrication, or construction

1-3 years of experience in a supervisory or management role is advantageous.

In-depth knowledge of Canadian Codes and Standards; familiarity with US and Eurocodes is a plus.

Experience in Finite Element Analysis (FEA).

Proficiency in structural software, including SAP 2000, ETABS, and RFEM.

Experience with Autodesk Revit Architecture and/or McNeel Rhinoceros.

Strong ability to coordinate processes and collaborate with consultants across various software platforms.

Detail-oriented and data-driven, with a strong focus on accuracy and precision in engineering tasks.

Lead the development of mass timber-based building systems, ensuring alignment with the overall company strategy.

Develop and implement engineering (R&D) strategies that support diverse building typologies and overall company goals.

Propose and design gravity and lateral load-resisting systems for projects, ensuring compliance with building codes and design objectives while delivering cost-effective solutions.

Oversee the preliminary and detailed design of gravity and lateral load-resisting systems (including steel, reinforced concrete, and mass timber), producing structural sketches, drawings, and specifications.

Manage the integration of structural, façade, and MEP systems to ensure cohesive and functional building designs.

Lead the application of Design for Manufacturing and Assembly (DfMA) principles, providing feedback to engineering teams for ongoing improvement.

Complete other duties as we may request that are consistent with your abilities and responsibilities.

Manage changes in departmental priorities and project scopes, adjusting strategies to meet evolving objectives.

Lead the integration of building systems development across teams, ensuring collaboration with manufacturing technology, software development, and on-site construction.

Coordinate with company leaders to ensure seamless integration of structural systems across disciplines.

Report on engineering progress, developments, and constraints to the leadership team, maintaining transparency and alignment with broader company objectives.

Communicate identified engineering gaps and necessary testing requirements to enhance the platform and ensure the successful implementation of structural systems.

Represent the company during client meetings and the design-assist phase of projects, advocating for technical solutions that meet both client needs and company goals.

Collaborate effectively with building partners, suppliers, and external consultants to ensure smooth project execution.

Facilitate clear communication within project teams, using the design-assist process to foster alignment among all stakeholders.

Organize and lead project meetings by preparing agendas, facilitating discussions, and documenting actionable meeting notes to maintain focus and project momentum.

Build and nurture strong relationships with clients, external consultants, vendors, and contractors to ensure successful project outcomes.

Provide regular updates on engineering progress to the leadership team, clearly communicating developments, requirements, and constraints within the organization.

For this role, the estimated base salary range is $115,000 to $130,000.
The actual base salary will vary based on various factors, including market and individual qualifications objectively assessed during the interview process. The listed range above is a guideline, and the base salary range for this role may be modified. Benefits offered after 3 months.
