The Position
We’re searching for a hands-on and strategic Senior Accountant who will own and execute the full accounting cycle, and provide our leadership team with insightful reporting and analysis. Reporting to the owners, in this role you’ll conduct planning/budgeting, financial reporting, cash management and operations oversight.

Key Responsibilities:
- Manage and execute the full accounting cycle, including AP/R, payroll, bank and credit card reconciliations.
- Ensure accurate monthly and quarterly closing, including revenue and expense accruals, amortization, allocations, ad-hoc entries, budget updates, financial reporting, and balance sheet account reconciliations.
- Prepare budgets and forecasts, monitor activity against approved benchmarks; work with respective team leads to communicate actual vs. forecasted targets to ensure spending limits are adhered to, and financial goals are achieved.
- Co-create annual cash management plan.
- Prepare financial statements and information packages for senior management and various stakeholders.
- Responsible for compliance filings including HST, Workers Compensation, Employer Health Tax, and coordinating with external accounts for corporate income tax filing.
- Continuously identify metrics that will improve efficiency and effectiveness of accounting communications across departments; develop reports that are clear, responsive and timely to serve as guide for leads; work to translate the numbers so better understanding by all.
- Ongoing cost analysis of products and services, evaluating margins and providing regular, responsive reporting for owners and department leads to adjust operations to achieve targets.
- Coordinate and prepare supporting documentation for external accounting year-end review.
- Assist with management of Insurance Programs (corporate, vehicle and employee).
- Contribute to Human Resource policy development and implementation.
- Serve as a role model team player who leads with integrity.
Key Qualifications
- Post-secondary education in accounting.
- 5+ years of accounting experience.
- Thorough understanding of medium-sized, for-profit accounting and Canadian accounting standards for private enterprise (ASPE).
- Significant hands-on experience managing the books and performing period-end closing.
- Experience in analysis, forecasting and budgeting.
- Skilled in QBO.
- Experience with HST filings and coordinating with CRA.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a knack for explaining financial concepts and the ability to build strong working relationships with business partners,
- A curious and entrepreneurial team player with a strong service orientation who’s eager to roll up their sleeves.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
- Excellent analytical, problem recognition and creative problem-solving skills with a proven ability to take initiative and embrace challenges.
- Attention to detail, organization, and time management skills.
- Skilled in Excel, Outlook and Word.
- High degree of confidentiality and integrity.
