Overview:
We are seeking a skilled Communication Specialist to join our team. We're looking for a versatile communicator who can wear multiple hats - creating engaging content across all platforms, from social media to internal communications to marketing materials. In our fast-paced, diverse company, you’ll collaborate with different teams and subsidiaries to ensure our messaging is consistent and impactful. If you thrive on variety and appreciate an entrepreneurial environment, this role is for you.

Job Responsibilities:
-Develop and execute communication strategies and plans that engage, inform, and align employees and the Snuneymuxw and external community.
-Update, create content, monitor and engage on all PDG social media channels.
-Assist with the content for organizational creative collateral. Some examples include: Social media channels content, newsletter, signage and other digital and print materials.
-Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather information and create content that aligns with our organizational priorities and goals.
-Manage multiple communication projects simultaneously, ensuring deadlines are met and deliverables are of the highest quality.
-Coordinate events planning as well as supporting managers and vendors as needed.

-Performs other tasks and duties as assigned.

Experience:

-1-2 years of professional communications or social media experience.

-Prior experience working with First Nation and/or Indigenous communities preferred.

Skills:
- Excellent communication skills, including writing, editing, and presentation skills
- Strong organizational, attention to detail and time management skills with a proven ability to manage multiple projects at once
- Strong stakeholder and partner management/engagement is critical

- Ability to maintain confidentiality, meet deadlines, and work well under pressure
- Experience with internal and external communications

-Skilled user in relevant software applications such as Microsoft 365 Suite, Adobe, Canva etc.
-Demonstrated commitment to ongoing professional development and continuous learning

-Strong understanding of social, economic, political, and historical concerns in Indigenous communities is an asset

Requirements:

-The successful candidate will have to provide a satisfactory criminal record check

Portfolio:

Must include writing samples and visual social media content samples with your application, or provide a link to your online portfolio.
