Vanco Farms Ltd. specializes in growing specialty potatoes, organic potatoes, premium cut tulips, and tulip bulbs. The farm is family owned and operated, and we proudly grow our products in the signature red soil of Prince Edward Island.
Position Summary
We are looking for a dynamic Financial Controller to oversee and enhance the farm’s fiscal management and business analysis functions. This position involves analyzing agricultural business performance, managing financial controls, and providing strategic insights to support operational efficiency and growth.
Position Responsibilities
- Provide oversight to accounting team
- Reviewing and submitting financial reporting to our accounting firm and enforcing accountability for timely return of financial statements.
- Preparing reporting for banks as required.
- Preparing annual budgets and cashflow forecast.
- Monitor and report actual cashflow to forecast.
- Monitor and improve the process of collecting and distributing data throughout the business organization.
- Act as primary contact with CRA regarding remittances and audits.
- Provide oversight to HR on proper allocation of costs and remittances.
- Accountable for data security and storage of documents.
- Manage software contracts.
- Take a lead in computer hardware procurement and maintenance.
Skills and Abilities
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Agricultural Economics, or a related field.
- Proven experience in fiscal management and business analysis, preferably in the agricultural sector.
- Strong understanding of agricultural operations and fiscal management principles.
- Proficiency in financial software and tools.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
- Effective communication skills with the ability to present complex financial information clearly.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced farm environment.
