Concrete Carpenter

Work – Industrial Civil (Structural Gradebeams, Pile Caps, & Slabs)

Duration – ~12-week temporary, project-based (July start) — strong potential to go permanent

Locations – Suncor Firebag Facility (Fort McMurray, AB area) — Fly-In Fly-Out (FIFO) with camp accommodations provided

Compensation – $35–$45/hr, based on experience and competency · Full flights and camp covered

You know formwork — flatwork and structural. Come build the complex civil infrastructure on a major industrial build.

What you'll build

Formwork layout, assembly, and stripping for industrial gradebeams, pile caps, and structural slab applications
Setting forms to exact elevation and alignment per structural drawings and civil field instructions
Working safely on an active, high-standard industrial construction site
Supporting rebar installation, anchor bolt setting, and pre-pour preparation
Maintaining clean, organized work areas in compliance with site safety requirements

What you bring

3+ years of concrete formwork experience (Journeyman Carpenter certification or equivalent)
Ability to read and interpret structural and civil construction drawings cold
Ability to execute a 14x7 continuous shift schedule
Valid Class 5 (non-GDL) licence, clean 3-year abstract
Can clear all industrial site access requirements (Suncor orientation, safety tickets, D&A testing)
Legally entitled to work in Canada

Nice to have: Experience with engineered forming systems (Doka, Peri, Duraform, Aluma) · previous industrial or oil sands civil experience · First Aid / OSHA or CSTS 2020 safety tickets.

Do you have the ability to reliably commute to our shop in St. Albert or are you planning on relocating prior to starting work such that you could reliably commute to our shop in St. Albert?
Are the last 3 years of your driving history CLEAN? (An abstract will be pulled)
Are you willing to participate in short-term (3-21 days) periodic (10-30% of annual workload) bouts of out-of-town work? (hotel accommodations, company vehicles, & LOA supplied)

Experience:

FLATWORK Concrete Forming: 1 year (preferred)
General STRUCTURAL Concrete Forming: 3 years (required)
Freeform STRUCTURAL Concrete Forming: 2 years (preferred)

Licence/Certification:

CSTS 2020 (Free, online, non-expiring digital ASCA ticket) (required)
Class 5 AB Non-GDL license or equivalent? (required)
