JOB TITLE: Executive Sr. Superintendent

DEPARTMENT: Operations

REPORTING: President, Vice President Operations - Project Management

ABOUT US:

ABOUT THE ROLE:

The Executive Sr. Superintendent oversees all field operations on all ongoing J.J. McGuire projects to ensure safety compliance, quality control, and construction in compliance with project documents and the projects(s) that are trending to the construction schedule.

ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Confirm we have adequate on-site safety. Work closely with the Safety Department to ensure all Client, OSHA, and corporate safety policies and procedures are followed.
Ensure quality, and conformance to drawings, specifications, and local codes. The general superintendent to work with the site superintendent, and project management team to develop and implement the project(s) quality control program.
Provide input for the preparation of work scopes and selection of subcontractors where applicable.
Participate in post-bid review meetings and project kick-off meetings.
Work closely with project management and other internal departments including safety, estimating, accounting, payroll, billings, and document control to further ensure project success at all stages including project closeout.
Generate weekly reports documenting key milestone items completed on the various projects.
Attend as many progress and coordination meetings with clients, subcontractors, the JJM team, and other project stakeholders to help identify and troubleshoot long lead time items, input on design issues, address schedule concerns, and corrective action plans if warranted.
Review all 3-week look ahead schedules for all projects.
Provide input, oversee, and assist where needed to develop and update monthly construction schedules of the project’s work.
Monitor daily superintendents' reports and progress photos are completed every week.
Provide proactive management involved to avoid unwanted/unplanned project costs and delays:
Work closely with the project management team to ensure that changes to work scopes including cost and schedule impacts are communicated to and approved by the owner before implementing said changes.
Ensure that the JJM management team follows proper change order management and understanding and has proper written authorizations before the commencement of the changes in scopes.
Ensure the RFI process is being managed properly.
Ensure document control/shop drawings are being managed properly.
Ensure final documentation (as-builts) is being managed properly.
Work with and direct as required project superintendents, assistant superintendents, and administrative staff to ensure proper documentation of changes in the work or documents.
Manage, supervise, and mentor others as needed to run multiple projects, phases, shifts, etc. while ensuring customer satisfaction at all levels.
Participate in monthly progress/status update meetings, reporting to the company leadership on project status, schedule, and budget as well as potential exposure or opportunity.

SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE:

Individuals must be highly skilled in understanding construction specifications and drawings.
Advanced understanding of all trade disciplines; civil, structural, architectural, mechanical, plumbing, electrical, and low voltage systems.
Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
Proficient in construction means and methods, sequencing of work, and the ability to manage and update detailed construction schedules.
Highly motivated to maintain construction quality and schedule.
Ability to understand all aspects of a large complex project or multiple projects.
Ability to recognize problems and issues, and propose and implement favorable solutions.
Conflict resolution and mitigation.
Ability to delegate and follow up for the completion of project work tasks by subordinates.

Contractual requirements of the projects assigned.
Strong computer skills are a must; Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, Project, Procore, and any customer-required software (i.e. BMI 360, Contract Manager, and E-Builder).

Knowledgeable of all company policies and procedures.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education: Bachelor’s degree in construction management, Engineering, or related field or equivalent combinations of training and experience.

Experience: 15 years of related work experience as a superintendent or project manager.

Safety Understand all MOL guidelines and agreements to strictly follow JJM’s Health & Safety policy and procedures and promote our safety culture.

Work Environment:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works on-site at the construction work site where the employee is exposed to moving mechanical parts, multiple-level sites, fumes, or airborne particles, outside weather conditions, etc. The noise in these work environments can be moderate to very loud.

Physical Demands:

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

Performance of the required duties will require physical ability to climb permanent and temporary stairs, passenger use of construction personnel hoists, ability to climb ladders, and negotiation work areas under construction. Specific vision abilities required by this job include core vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. Performing this job requires the use of hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls, sit, talk and hear, stand, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, and/or crawl.
