The Executive Director (ED) of Veith House will work with the Board of Directors (BoD) to establish and execute major goals and objectives for the organization in direct relation to the organization’s mission to act as a resource to community. The ED will lead, direct, and guide the activities and evolution of the organization. A primary function of the ED will be to assess and evaluate the effectiveness of all organizational operations and update or change processes as required. The ED will work with staff members to coordinate major activities.
The ED will be responsible for hiring staff and employee evaluations. As a representative of the organization, the ED will liaise with regulatory bodies, other agencies, community and civic organizations, donors, funders and supporters as well as the general public.
Qualifications:
● University Degree in a related field or clearly stated equivalency
● 3-5 years’ experience or clearly stated equivalency working with diverse communities experiencing social barriers
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
● Leadership and management principles as they relate to non-profit/voluntary organizations
● Strong program development skills and a history of project management
● Experience in management of staff and the application of policies and procedures in the day to day operations of an organization
● A deep and abiding commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion in all its forms, and a cultivated ability to apply an anti-oppressive lens and framework to community development, team leadership, project management, program design and delivery, and relationship building and repair
● The ability to work collaboratively and develop consensus among a diverse range of partners and constituency groups
● Proven community development skills
● Awareness of current community challenges and opportunities relating to the mission of the organization
● Big-picture thinker, open to suggesting and pursuing non-traditional avenues for Veith House
● Proven networking skills
● Experience in fundraising and grant writing
● Comfortable working with financial management processes and instruments
● Knowledge of Federal and Provincial legislation and applicable voluntary sector organizations including: employment standards, human rights, occupational health and safety. Charities, taxation, CPP, IA, EI, MSI etc.
