Deli Supervisor – Convenience Store
Position Summary
The Deli Supervisor oversees the daily operations of the deli department within the convenience store. This includes managing staff, ensuring food quality and safety, maintaining cleanliness, and delivering strong customer service while meeting sales and efficiency targets.
Key Responsibilities
Team Leadership
- Supervise, schedule, and support deli staff during shifts
- Train new employees on food preparation, safety, and customer service standards
- Provide direction on daily priorities and ensure tasks are completed
- Address performance issues and escalate concerns when needed
Operations Management
- Oversee daily deli operations, including food prep, cooking, and service
- Ensure all products are stocked, fresh, and properly displayed
- Monitor inventory levels and place orders as required
- Minimize waste and control food costs
Food Safety & Compliance
- Ensure all food handling follows health and safety regulations (VIHA or applicable authority)
- Maintain cleanliness of prep areas, equipment, and display cases
- Complete temperature logs and food safety records accurately
- Ensure proper labeling, dating, and rotation of products
Customer Service
- Provide friendly, efficient service to all customers
- Handle customer concerns or complaints professionally
- Maintain a clean, welcoming deli area at all times
Cash & Store Support
- Assist with POS transactions as needed
- Support overall store operations during busy periods
- Work closely with store management to meet sales goals
Qualifications
- Previous experience in food service or deli operations preferred
- Leadership or supervisory experience is an asset
- Strong understanding of food safety practices
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and prioritize tasks
- Reliable, organized, and able to lead by example
Working Conditions
- Standing for extended periods
- Early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays as required
- Handling hot equipment and food products
Availability Requirements:
- Must be available to work any shift on Saturdays and Sundays
- Must be available to work closing shifts Monday through Friday (afternoons/evenings until store close)
Reporting To
- Store Manager / Assistant Manager
Pay: From $18.25 per hour
