Position Summary:
The Robot Technician is responsible for the operation, troubleshooting, and maintenance of robotic and automated systems within a manufacturing environment. This role ensures optimal equipment performance, minimizes downtime, and supports production by diagnosing mechanical, electrical, and programming issues while following safety, quality, and operational standards
The Robot Technician will report directly to the Maintenance Supervisor or Production Supervisor.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Supervision & Leadership
· Support the operation, monitoring, and basic maintenance of robotic and automated fabrication equipment
· Assist with troubleshooting mechanical, electrical, and control issues to minimize production downtime
· Provide basic support for PLC-controlled systems, including fault diagnostics and minor program adjustments under supervision
· Perform routine inspections, adjustments, and preventative maintenance on robotic systems and related equipment
· Load programs, verify setups, and make minor adjustments under supervision to ensure quality and consistency
· Collaborate with maintenance, fabrication, and engineering teams to support production goals
· Follow all safety procedures, lockout/tagout practices, and company policies in a steel manufacturing environment
· Maintain basic documentation, maintenance records, and production logs as required
· Identify and report equipment issues, wear, or process concerns to senior technicians or supervisors
· Support continuous improvement efforts related to automation, efficiency, and workplace safety
· Comply with requirements as outlined in the company handbook and the OHSA.
· Comply with all health and safety policies and procedures; and legislative requirements.
· Follows and comply with all Operational Procedures and policies as outlined in the Employee Handbook, Quality and Environment programs (i.e. IATF, ISO 14001)
· Ability to travel from time to time.
· Performs other duties as assigned.
Education, Skills and Abilities:
· College education in Robotics, or Electro Mechanical Diploma
· Two (2) to three (3) years’ experience in maintenance of robots preferred
· Understanding of general welding theory / practical welding (ITW/Hobart or similar equivalent) is an asset
· Robot programming course (Panasonic / Motoman / ABB / FANUC or similar / equivalent) preferred.
· Well versed in operation and interaction of robots within a cell structure and their component processes including pneumatics, hydraulics, electrical and electronic.
· Ability to analyze program parameters and processes where it pertains to robotic movement and implement improvements where needed.
· Ability to read and interpret blueprints.
· Experience within a fabrication environment would be an asset.
· In the habit of working in a busy and complex environment, staying calm under pressure.
· Excellent command of the English language, verbal and written.
Pay Transparency:
Pay: $34.70 - $37.56
