To support this growth, we are adding an Industrial Painter/ Sandblaster who wants steady work, a strong team environment, and the opportunity to contribute to high-quality finished steel products.
About the Role
As an Industrial Painter/Sandblaster, you will play a key role in the final preparation and finishing of fabricated steel components before shipment. This includes abrasive blasting, surface preparation, industrial coating application, and ensuring finished steel products meet customer and company quality standards.
You’ll work on large structural assemblies, frames, platforms, and heavy steel components using spray booth systems, blasting equipment, and industrial-grade coatings in a hands-on production environment.
Key Responsibilities
Surface Preparation & Sandblasting
· Perform abrasive blasting and surface preparation of structural steel components
· Remove rust, mill scale, debris, and contaminants prior to coating
· Prepare large fabricated assemblies, frames, and parts for industrial finishing
· Ensure proper masking, cleaning, and staging of materials
Industrial Painting & Finishing
· Apply industrial primers, coatings, and finishes using spray booth and airless/industrial spray equipment
· Maintain consistent coating thickness, finish quality, and product appearance
· Mix and prepare paints, epoxies, and coatings according to specifications
· Monitor drying, curing, and final handling procedures
Quality, Safety & Equipment Maintenance
· Inspect finished surfaces for coverage, defects, and quality standards
· Follow all company health, safety, and environmental procedures related to blasting and coatings
· Wear and maintain required PPE and respirator equipment
· Maintain clean spray booth, blasting areas, hoses, guns, and related equipment
· Communicate with supervisors/forman and fabrication teams to ensure timely completion of jobs
Skills & Qualifications
· 2+ years of related industrial painting, sandblasting, or surface preparation experience preferred
· Experience working with large steel parts, structural components, or heavy industrial materials
· Experience with industrial spray systems, blasting equipment, and coating applications
· Understanding of surface prep requirements and coating consistency
· Ability to work safely with PPE, respirators, and industrial materials
· Strong attention to detail and finish quality
· Dependable, self-motivated, and able to work in a production-driven environment
· Forklift or overhead crane experience is an asset
