Who We Are Kichton Construction LP is the Fort McMurray-based Heavy Civil entity within the Kichton Group of Companies which has been operating since 1963. Kichton Construction LP commenced operations in 2019 as the industrial division of the Kichton Group to serve the Energy and Mining Industries throughout North America. Since inception, KCLP has grown sustainably and exponentially, starting with 30 experienced team members in 2019, to now over 400 team members and over 300 pieces of heavy equipment. KCLP is proud to continue operating alongside our Community Partner, the Chipewyan Prairie First Nation, as part of our NOHA/Kichton Joint-Venture.
The RoleWe are looking for experienced
Laborers to assist our field operations team at the Syncrude MLX project, Mildred Lake which is about 45 kms North of Fort McMurray AB. This role reports into the Foreman.
This is non-camp work with bussing back and forth to site so applicants must be local to Fort McMurray. Location/Project Details· Syncrude, Mildred Lake.· Two-month project. · 12-hour days (paid for 11.5 hours). 14 days on, 7 off. Days and Nights.·
No accommodations, locals only.· Busing provided from town to site.
Compensation/Benefits-
$28 - $30 per hour based on experience.

Overtime after 8 hours per day or 40 hours per week, whichever is greater.

9.6% vacation and stat holiday pay on all regular hours.

Key Responsibilities·
Main scope will be pumping water and building access roads.· Perform general labor duties in an active oil sands mining environment.· Support operators, ground crews, and supervisors with daily site activities.· Assist with excavation support, shoveling, grading assistance, cleanup, and material handling.· Maintain safe and clean work areas, including housekeeping around equipment and job sites.· Assist with installation and maintenance of erosion control, culverts, pipelines, and other site infrastructure.· Work safely around heavy equipment, utilities, pipelines, and moving vehicles.· Drive light duty vehicles in the mine and on public roads in adverse weather and road conditions.· Conduct hazard assessments and follow all safe work procedures.· Identify and report hazards, unsafe conditions, incidents, and near misses.· Use hand and power tools safely and effectively.· Load and unload materials, tools, and supplies as required.· Assist with fueling, spotting equipment, and general site support duties.· Follow all company policies, site rules, environmental regulations, and client requirements.· Participate in safety meetings, toolbox talks, and ongoing training.· Work outdoors in varying weather and ground conditions, including mud, dust, snow, and soft ground.
Qualifications & Requirements· Minimum 1 – 3 years of labor experience in mining, construction, heavy civil, or oil sands environments preferred.· Previous experience working around heavy equipment is considered an asset.· OSSA/BSO/CSO required.· Hydrogen Sulfide Awareness or H2S Alive, Silica Awareness, OH&S Legislation Awareness, Wood Buffalo Wildlife Awareness, Wood Buffalo Wildlife Intermediate, Field Ergonomics required (can be completed through Energy Safety Canada online).· Suncor Workday Training required: SRMWB Safety Orientation, OSSA Driving in the Mine, SCL Mine Job Orientation· Transportation of Dangerous Goods (TDG) required.· WHMIS 2015 certification required.· Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug and alcohol test.· Valid Class 5 driver’s license required and a clean abstract.· Physically fit and capable of lifting, bending, climbing, and working outdoors in extreme weather conditions.· Strong communication and teamwork skills.

Working Conditions· Work performed in active mining, construction, and oil sands environments.· Exposure to dust, mud, noise, vibration, and extreme weather conditions.· Long shifts including both day and night rotations.· Overtime and extended rotations may be required depending on project needs.· Experience working in soft ground and around water is considered an asset.
Safety Responsibilities· Comply with all applicable OH&S legislation, company policies, and client site requirements.· Stop work when unsafe conditions exist.· Properly use all required PPE.· Report incidents, hazards, and near misses immediately.· Participate in ongoing safety training and competency evaluations.
