OVERVIEW:
The Night Auditor is responsible for verifying that all front office accounting records are accurate. Daily, the Night Auditor is responsible for tracking room revenue, occupancy, and other front office operating statistics.
The Night Auditor prepares summaries of cash and credit card activities, reflecting the hotel’s financial performance for each day. They post room charges, room taxes, and various other services, including guest transactions that are not posted during the day by the Guest Service Agents.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Post and process room charges and taxes to guest accounts, including those that may not have been posted during the day and those that have been incurred during the night audit shift.
- Transfer charges and deposits to master accounts.
- Verify all charges assigned by various departments have been correctly posted and assigned to the proper accounts.
- Verify all charges posted in the Property Management System have been entered into the correct guest folio and no charges have been overlooked.
- Verify all account postings and balances.
- Track room revenues, occupancy percentages, and various other front office statistics
- Prepare summary of cash and credit card activities
- Summarize results of shift operations for management review
- Check figures, postings, and documents for accuracy.
- Record, store, access, and analyze computerized financial information.
- Prepare end of day procedure in order to carry over to next business day.
- Balance all charges from the day, making corrections as necessary.
- Run end of day process in the Property Management System by following “End of Day” and Night Auditor checklists
- Perform regular duties associated with standard front desk agent after hours. Specifically, check-in and check-out procedures
- Perform wake-up calls.
- Respond to guest needs, special requests, and complaints in a timely manner, alerting appropriate managers as needed.
- Maintain open, clear and constant communication between shifts and departments
- Always maintain the highest level of customer service and display professionalism.
- Always display appropriate two-way radio etiquette.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality of hotel guests and pertinent hotel information.
- Must have comprehensive understanding of hotel emergency procedures.
- Other tasks as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- High school diploma is required.
- Must speak, understand, and write fluently in English. Bilingualism is an asset.
- Experience working in a fast-paced Hotel/Resort setting is required, at least one (1) year in a Front Office/Night Audit role
- Strong working knowledge of Opera management system is an asset.
- Experience handling guest concerns and complaints.
- Proficiency in all Microsoft Office applications, specifically; Word, Excel, and Outlook
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal
