Role Overview
As the Occupational Health Nurse, reporting to the Safety Superintendent, you will deliver comprehensive occupational health services to employees and contractors at the Young‑Davidson Mine. You will provide first aid and primary care, manage disability and WSIB programs, support return‑to‑work planning, and lead site‑based health and wellness initiatives. The role requires sound clinical judgment, strong decision‑making, and the ability to work independently while adhering to regulatory requirements and corporate policies.
Key Responsibilities
Clinical Care & Emergency Response: Assess and treat workplace injuries and illnesses within scope of practice, provide emergency care, and coordinate follow‑up treatment for employees and contractors.
Disability & Return‑to‑Work Management: Manage WSIB claims, short‑ and long‑term disability cases, modified work plans, rehabilitation programs, and return‑to‑work coordination for occupational and non‑occupational events.
Health Programs & Testing: Coordinate and perform health surveillance and testing programs including respirator fit testing, drug and alcohol testing, spirometry, audiometric testing, and other required assessments.
Health Education & Wellness: Deliver employee health education, counselling services, and support Employee Assistance Programs, drug and alcohol rehabilitation initiatives, and site wellness programs. Serve as a champion for employee health and wellbeing.
Training & Certification: Conduct Standard First Aid, CPR‑C, and Mental Health First Aid training for site employees as required.
Records, Reporting & Compliance: Maintain accurate and confidential medical records, liaise with external health providers, manage medical supply inventory, and compile statistical and compliance reports as requested. Ensure compliance with OHSA, Mines and Mining Plants regulations, and relevant human rights legislation.
What You Bring to the Table
- Registered Nurse in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario.
- BScN designation or College Diploma in Nursing.
- Occupational Health Nursing certification or willingness to obtain (asset).
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience as a Registered Nurse or 2 years’ experience as an Occupational Health Nurse in a heavy industrial environment.
- Certification or experience with health testing procedures such as audiometric testing, drug and alcohol testing, respirator fit testing, immunizations, spirometry, and IV competency.
- Strong knowledge of the Occupational Health and Safety Act, Ontario mining regulations, and human rights legislation.
- Excellent communication, organizational, decision‑making, and problem‑solving skills.
- Strong computer literacy and ability to adapt in a dynamic work environment.

Working Conditions
- Initial schedule: 4 days on / 3 days off, 10‑hour shifts during onboarding and training.
- Transition to rotational schedule: 7 days on / 7 days off.
- Site‑based role at the Young‑Davidson Mine, Ontario.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to provide clinical care, respond to emergencies, and participate in site activities.
Travel & Accommodation
- Camp‑based or site‑based role as applicable to operational requirements.
Salary range: $98,600 CAD – $147,900 CAD
