Position Summary
We currently have an opening available for a Terminal Manager at our Surrey, BC location. The purpose and role of our Terminal Manager is to support the business strategy and objectives of the Company with a primary focus on improving the services providing the customer and ultimately, the financial performance of the company. The Terminal Manager seeks to bridge gaps in processes across departments; continually seeking better, smarter and more effective ways of serving customers and supporting the company’s strategic plan. This a multi-disciplinary and “hands on” role for this terminal.
This opportunity is perfect for a person with 5 to 10 years experience in a like or similar role.
Description & Responsibilities are as follows,
· Is actively engaged in leading the terminal’s safety initiatives and places the importance of safety and compliance above all else
· Provides critical leadership ensuring that the operations and business processes meet the company’s needs
· Leads operational change; works closely with team leaders to ensure effective implementation and communication with those impacted.
· Creates a positive environment of continuous improvement and alignment with the company’s business objectives
· Responds to and delegates responsibility for internal and external correspondence; maintains/oversees all routine terminal administrative functions in an orderly and timely manner
· Provides oversight and workforce scheduling of our skilled team members, scheduling of trucks ensuring route density, load factor and closely manages overall costs.
· Organizes and maintains security of company equipment and freight per C-TPAT requirements
· Ensures warehouse is organized and constantly works to reduce shortages and damages and overall freight claims.
· Identifies work-flow and work load problems and service failures; creates SOP’s to avoid/eliminate defects and is actively engaged in the day to day operations of the terminal
Education and Experience
· Good working knowledge of LTL and Logistics
· Minimum five years of like or similar experience, preferably in LTL operations at the terminal level
· Proven leadership and ability to effectively communicate with all team members
· Superior communication skills (oral and written)
· Ability to research, analyze and communicate in the best interests of the company
· Analytical and detailed oriented
· Well organized, able to effectively prioritize and keep focused on what is important
· Is guided by honesty, trust, respect and integrity
· Familiar with applicable legislation including, Dangerous Goods, WCB, (COR), NSC and DOT and cross-border requirements
· Conversant in city and highway dispatch systems
· Flexible, self-motivated, outgoing and positive disposition
