ORIGINELLE FERTILITY CLINIC RN (Registered Nurse)
The OriginElle Fertility Clinic Nursing role is to implement, supervise and evaluate patient care throughout all of their fertility related care with us including: ovulation induction, egg freezing, sperm analysis, IVF and oocytes donation. She / he is in constant communication with the Nurse Supervisor and Clinic Manager.
She/he demonstrates clinical expertise in all IVF procedures and serves as a liaison between the nurses, physicians and coordinators.
As is the case with every OriginElle Fertility Clinic staff member, the nursing team must always foster and promote a safe environment for all patients, families, visitors and staff, and in a non-discriminatory climate in which care is delivered in a manner sensitive to socio-cultural diversity.
She/he is a Registered Nurse (RN) who has experience in gynecology, operating room or recovery room. Ideally she/he is specialized in fertility and handles clinical practice, teaching, management and consulting.
She/he must have successfully passed ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) certificate.
She/he must have a licence with College of Nurses of Ontario.
Specific duties to all nurses
- Performs routine examinations and procedures.
- Performs blood tests and IVs (vein puncture).
- Administers medications and injections.
- Assists with retrievals and transfers.
- Assists with pre and post op care as needed.
- Takes the patient's vital signs, such as blood pressure, pulse and temperature when required.
- Offers injection teachings.
- Prepares personalized calendars and treatment plans.
- Basic Responsibilities
- Maintains a safe and clean working environment.
- Ensures quality care to patients and partners.
- Demonstrate clinical expertise in all IVF procedures.
- Communicates information in verbal or written form to other nurses, physicians and embryologists.
- Liaises and communicates the orders and instructions of the physicians.
- Is responsible for the ongoing communication between the physician and the patient.
- Coordinates the treatment plans between patients and physicians.
- Coordinates all infertility diagnostic tests.
- Is responsible for accurate and timely communication of lab results to patients.
- Counsels and trains the patients on infertility treatment protocols, medications and infertility procedures.
- Maintains clear, concise and timely computerized patient charting. This includes proper note taking, testing updates and document uploading as well as all training, calendars and support documents pertinent to the individual patients file and care.
- Prepares patients to undergo egg collections, In Vitro Fertilization and frozen embryo transfers.
- Assists patients throughout ovulation induction, egg freezing, sperm analysis, IVF and oocyte donation.
- Ensures clear and comprehensive training after procedures ie; egg collection or embryo transfer.
- Provides compassion, emotional support and counselling to patients throughout the IVF experience.
- Responds to all telephone and email inquiries of the patients regarding medication, treatment plans and test results.
- Ensure proper follow up communication with all patients via all available forms of communication in a timely manner.
- Aspires to not only attain, but exceed customer service expectations in the practice of all aspects of the nursing responsibilities.
