We are looking for a dependable and detail-oriented individual to join our team at the Village by the Arboretum in the part-time position of Weekend Custodian to join our team. This role supports our Facilities Team with providing building operation services and monitoring of primary equipment within the property’s recreation centre, condominium buildings, medical centre and gate house. The Village by the Arboretum is an award-winning adult lifestyle community in Guelph and is currently home to over 1200 residents.
If you enjoy working independently and collaboratively with others, handle pressure well, and have the communication skills needed to interact with residents in a friendly, respectful, and helpful way on a daily basis, this opportunity is for you. Reporting to the Facility Supervisor, Village by the Arboretum (VBA), you will provide cleaning services and set up for functions for the residents in the Village centre on a daily basis.
You understand sanitary and institutional cleaning principles. You also hold a valid Class G driver’s license. You must be able to lift up to 20 kg, and work at heights.
The Custodian we seek will have the following skills and qualifications:

Customer Service:
- Interact in a friendly, respectful and helpful way with the residents
- Speak knowledgably with service people and suppliers
Service Work:
- Perform general housekeeping and janitorial tasks
- Complete daily pool and spa testing and pool maintenance
- Assist with activity setups
- Maintenance and setting up of outdoor amenities
- Manage coffee stations
- Perform tasks assigned by the Facilities Supervisor
Other:
- Additional responsibilities may be discussed in advance as needed.
The successful candidate will demonstrate the following:

- Criminal Record Check and Vulnerable Sector Screening
- Valid class G driver's license with a clean driver's abstract
- First Aid training, knowledge of WHMIS
- Organizational and time management skills
- Exemplary listening skills and problem-solving ability
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (both verbal and written
- Ability to work under pressure
- Understand the principles of sanitary cleaning\
- Able to work with limited supervision
- Hours of work - Saturday and Sunday 8:00 am to 4:30 pm
- Can work unsupervised
