We're in search of a Assistant General Manager with a minimum of 3 years of experience in restaurant management. Position Description
Title: Assistant General Manager (AGM):
Unit Operations Reports to: Vice President, Property Management
Position Role: Responsible for all aspects of restaurant operations, ensuring that all food and service standards are met or exceeded, all policies and procedures are properly trained, enforced and promoted. Responsible for meeting or exceeding cleanliness and sanitation guidelines and ensuring that all administrative and managerial functions are executed according to company guidelines.
Primary Responsibilities:
· Manages Restaurant Environment
· Ensures prompt, friendly service according to company guidelines.
· Builds a culture using the Vision/Mission statement - teamwork, results, integrity, passion for service, fun, balance, innovation, guest satisfaction.
· Ensures the immediate response and correction of all verbal guest complaints by self and staff. Refers all verbal and written guest complaints to ownership group.
· Ensures guest contact as a priority with self and staff utilizing a target goal of 100% table visitation and satisfaction.
· Coaches and enforces alcohol awareness. Builds a positive relationship with local authorities by seeking their assistance in alcohol related issues.
· Maintains adequate inventory levels.
· Ensures product preparation and presentation uncompromisingly meeting company standards.
· Ensures that all systems related to kitchen and ordering are filled out daily and correctly.
· Actively participates in the community to increase sales and enhance the awareness of IL FORNELLO.
· Implements and executes all incentive contests and educates Team Members on promotions and new menu offerings.
· Effectively oversees and schedules Team Members to meet sales demands.
· Maintains effective safety and security programs according to company policy and government standards.
· Promotes and manages restaurant organization, cleanliness and sanitation.
· Institutes preventative maintenance of all equipment and building. Immediately corrects needed repairs.
· Advises Ownership Group of any non-routine situations.
· Communicates with other managers daily through management log and shift change meetings.
· Completes all other assigned duties and responsibilities.
· Performs hourly bartender and server positions as business requires.
Manages Associate Performance
· Ensures quality recruitment and referrals of potential management candidates.
· Adheres to and promotes IL FORNELLO training procedures of new managers.
· Maintains a trained staff through effective use of Team Member orientation, individual training sessions, Team Member meetings and implementation of company policies.
· Develops an environment of constant development of managers, including informal monthly reviews as well as written evaluations every twelve months to update the Managers KPI (Key Performance Indicators) objectives.
· Assesses the effectiveness of Team Members, provides candid, fair feedback on a regular basis, and continuously works with Team Members on their areas of development.
· Selects new Team Members on the basis of competency identification, not need.
· Ensures exit interviews on all terminated or departing Team Members are conducted.
· Demonstrates proper execution of training systems as outlined by the company while emphasizing the importance of training to management and Team Members.
· Ensures acceptable Team Member performance and documents situations that require or could lead to disciplinary or corrective action. Institutes progressive discipline when appropriate.
· Conducts weekly management meetings. Conducts employee meetings quarterly.
· Ensures compliance with company policies, practices and procedures. Communicates all changes to all Team Members.
· Acts as coach to all Team Members.
3. Maintain Controls
· Ensures restaurants administrative and accounting duties are promptly and properly completed.
· Maintains and controls the assets of the company.
· Assures the compliance with the local, provincial and federal laws, regulations and guidelines.
· Ensures the restaurant is meeting or exceeding operating budgets.
· Reacts to sales and labour forecasts in a timely and effective manner.
· Approves all labour and sales forecasts and unit budgets.
· Manages all service contracts to ensure that routine and preventative maintenance occurs. Follows through on all work and billing. Completes competitive survey of regional purveyors to ensure fairness in billing.
· Monitors and manages capital expenditures within the restaurant.
· Analyzes systems and procedures with the Ownership Group for continual improvement of earning goals.
· Ensures all cash handling procedures are adhered to.
· Performs and analyzes weekly food and liquor inventories/costs.
· Responsible for preparing/overseeing and submitting of accurate daily/weekly/monthly paperwork to the Ownership Group.
· Completes and reviews accurate inventory counts and orders on a weekly basis. Ensures all inventory counts, variances, orders and action plans are timely and accurate
4. Development
· Inspires cooperation and teamwork from management and Team Members by building a culture derived from the IL FORNELLO Mission / Vision.
· Is guest obsessed and promotes the team as the place to work.
· Completes all assignments and duties properly and on schedule.
· Develops goals and action plans for personal/professional growth.
· Provides a role model for managers and Team Members.
· Exhibits a professional image.
· Is a subject matter expert on all store related technology.
4. Administration of the Health and Safety Program
· Ensures that all Accidents/injuries or Potential injuries are reported to the Ownership Group.
· Ensures that all WSIB reports, and that the WSIB reporting process is competed in a timely manner, and that all relevant documentation is forwarded to the appropriate receiver in a timely manner.
· Reviews all Incident reports.
· Reviews all accident investigation forms.
· Reviews all Action plans from JHSC, employees, managers and Executive Team.
· Participates in and is accountable to achieve all goals and programs related to Health and Safety as determined by Executive Team.
· Conducts and participates in workplace monthly inspection for both compliance and structural policies.
· Consciously observes Health and Safety practices as a part of daily routine.
· Addresses Health and Safety topics/issues/hazards/concerns at daily Shift Meetings.
· Ensures that employees are properly trained on all aspects of Health and Safety Programs.
· Follows up with Ownership Group on any deficiencies found during monthly store visitations and quarterly audits.
· Reacts quickly to potential or perceived violations of OHSA rules.
· Attendance at all General Manager meetings.
· Attendance at all other meetings at the request of the Ownership Group.
· Attendance and participation in all required company functions.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $60,000.00-$70,000.00 per year
