About the Role
Electrical Technicians will report to the Electrical, Instrument and Automation Maintenance Team Leads and be responsible for the maintenance and overhaul of process, utilities, and marine equipment.
Electrical Technicians will be part of the Maintenance Team and be responsible for electrical equipment maintenance and overhauls across the site.
Individuals will be required to analyze data through different tools and lenses and be able to work with remote office staff to solve various complex issues within their field of expertise. Everyone must be fully committed to becoming an expert in their field, enabling quick decision making with fit for purpose and cost-effective solutions.
Electrical Technicians will be required to understand what digitalization is, how to leverage new technologies, and know the importance of data to LNG Canada.
This role may be on a 9/80-or-12-hour rotation schedule.

You will use your expertise to:
- Support site continuous improvement in terms of efficiency, digitalization initiatives, and opportunities to drive best in class performance.
- Embrace a learner mindset to become a digitally enabled technician of the future leveraging technology, data, artificial intelligence, automation, robotics, and analytics.
- Support Turnaround and Major Maintenance Teams, as required, to provide site expertise and guidance during pre-work phases and execution.
- Act as a mentor for apprentices to share knowledge and experience to better enable efficiency and best in class performance.
- Perform corrective and preventative maintenance, repairs, alterations, and installations of various electrical systems, components, and equipment.
- Perform diagnostics, troubleshoot, and find solutions for complex and unique issues with various types of electrical equipment and systems.
- Troubleshoot power distribution and control equipment such as Programmable logic controls (PLC’s), medium/low voltage (MV/LV)-Variable frequency drives (VFD’s), Motor control centers (MCC’s), switches, protection relays, circuit breaker panels, and fuse enclosures.
- Operate various electrical equipment such as switchgear MV/HV, MCC MV/LV.
- Knowledge of Canadian Electrical Codes (CEC), maintenance repair standards and electrical safety procedures e.g.CSA-Z462.
- Maintain various manuals, drawings, and facility/field logbooks as required.
- Respond to call outs and emergencies as required.
To be successful, you will have:
- Electrician Journey Person with Red Seal qualification.
- Minimum 5 Years experience in a heavy industrial setting.
- Dual trade an asset (Instrumentation, Engineering Technologies program, etc.).
- Experience Operating and Maintaining Medium & High voltage systems in an industrial setting.
- Experience Operating, Maintaining, Troubleshooting, and Programming modern Digital relay-based power systems, and Drives.
- Hydrocarbon manufacturing facility experience an asset (LNG, Gas Processing, Upgrading, Refining, Mining, Pulp and Paper, Sawmills, Power Generation, etc.).
- Knowledge on Siemens, ABB, Chromalox, Thermon OEM equipment.
- High Voltage Gas Insulated Switchgear (GIS) experience an asset
- Fluent and articulate in English.
This role requires that you:
- Must be legally entitled to work in Canada (i.e., by way of Canadian citizenship, permanent residency, or valid work permit).
- Know that this role is based in Kitimat, BC.
- Relocate to Kitimat/Terrace, BC.
- Have a valid Driver’s License
- Know that this role may be expected to be on call on a rotational basis with potential operation rotating shift coverage and/or Monday - Friday schedule(s)
- Know that during Turnaround Campaign Maintenance events will require additional effort including longer hours and shift work.
- Are willing to work outdoors during inclement weather in all seasons including heavy snowfall and periods of heavy rain.
- Are able to climb ladders and stairs, work at heights and in confined spaces. Plant design conditions provide structures that are significantly taller than common in industry; individuals must be comfortable with heights as well as travel to and from the workface at heights.
- Know that this is not a fly-in, fly-out rotation role.
