-A Typical Day of work started out with a writ-in Safe Work plan , follow by a tailboard , and a normal day of work usually 8 to 12 hours.
-I learned how to set up outages , how to plan out work for upcoming weak of work , manage and lead a crew, install transmission and distribution lines.
-The management was hard to deal with and seamed to be a lack of communication to the field staff and employees.
-Most of the employees were hard working individuals working towards carriers at Cana and good to work with.
-The hardest part of the job was communication with the supervisors they would not give you enough lead time on upcoming jobs, making job starts rushed, as well as moving guys crew to  crew made work hard to adjust when you have new people on your crew every weak.
-Traveling the Provence and getting to see some country that people just don't see and getting to meat a lot of humble people.

Enjoyed the work. Didn't enjoy the preferential treatment from certain supervisors- especially turning a blind eye to their buddy, buddies smoking dope left, right and centre on the job, plus not being held accountable for their actions. Nothing personal but laying off Canadian born citizens and locals only to keep on temporary foreign workers.  Payroll was inconsistent- lots of errors. Hr department were straight faced lyers- who seemed to pick and choose who they put as priority for sending to school and such,  Paperwork, blue book's, and so forth were either misplaced or just simply forgot to be processed.  Ì was told I'd be hired back when things picked up only to hire people less experience from out of the country.

Cana has one of the worst work cultures I’ve ever experienced; the office nickle and dimes field employees, charges you for safety glasses, gloves etc, and does everything in their power to to not allow you get ahead financially.  They pay the lowest hourly rates and never have any overtime, they also don’t supply any safety gear/clothing.  As a PLT apprentice you will NEVER be able to get any transmission or overhead experience, it will strictly be URD and at times they may send you to work in their traffic or Fiber division.  The office is full of staff but they do their best to avoid returning voicemails/emails etc.  On-site morale is low and most people can’t wait to find a better gig.   There are some decent people still there but I think there’s a massive deficiency in the leadership department.  I would NOT recommend this company to anyone.

Work is fast paced and challenging on a daily basis. I have learned about Commercial Construction and Utility construction. CANA has increased my knowledge about Human Resources, in depth details in regards to safety and the importance of trained, competent and qualified employees for the success of the company and individual advancement. The majority of the co-workers are team players and are fun and easy to work with. The hardest part of my job is successfully coordinating last minute requests and limited training space for internal training. The most enjoyable part of my job is working with the people.

The fact it really is a team. From the president down to laborers,  everyone is fairly equal

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
When working out of town they seem to sometimes be quite unprepared for there employees needs 

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Like I said, it always feels like a real team wiring together

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Safety meeting, followed by the days talks and there importance in order so no need to finish all but quell on the important ones first

Working at CANA is a nightmare. Zero support for field staff. Schedules are non existent. They use all their power to get the most from you, while giving you the bare minimum to stay compliant with labor laws.  The office staff plays a big game of "not my job" and nobody takes responsibility for their duties. Although things were looking up and some slight changes had happened that gave some light to the future, they closed the doors on a division without any rhyme or reason. If you are a human, who likes to be treated as nothing more than an easily replaceable number, this is the place for you.

Where to start, upon being hired your fed so much nonsense to get you excited about what an amazing company this is and how everything will be performance based rather then seniority only to get to the field and see its all bs.
Little to no room to move up in this position,  you have to supply all your own ppe, they want you in full fr year round also not supplied, sporadic work schedule. promises to give you promotions to get you to work harder they have no intention of giving you because the economy doesn't allow it. Overall horrible place to work

It's a good company given you are with a great project team. Some Project Managers are not qualified to be in that position. They do not possess the skill sets and blame coordinators even though the coordinators would make better PMs than the current PMs. Essentially, Senior management always favors seniors, whether they are right or wrong. Company is not good at spotting talent. They will let go of a talented youngster with a bright and hard working future, in favor of a senior who really has no idea what they are doing.

Locating customers transformers with the aid of  GPS and maps. i learnt how to find the coordinates with the range roads and township roads.work alone for the most part but when around my co-worker everything is fine. Walking in very thick snow for long period.Achieving and surpast my set target for the day.
