A typical day at work
No two days are the same. There’s a good mix of meetings, focused work, and collaborating with other teams. It can get busy, but it’s manageable and structured.

What you believe you learned
A lot about the industry and how regulation really works behind the scenes. Also learned how to think more strategically and adapt to constant change.

Management
Supportive and approachable. They trust you to do your job but are there when you need help or direction.

Workplace culture
Respectful, professional, and people genuinely care about doing good work. It feels collaborative — not competitive.

The hardest part of the job
Balancing competing priorities and deadlines, especially when things change quickly or multiple teams are involved.

The most enjoyable part of the job
The people. Everyone’s smart, down-to-earth, and working toward a shared purpose. There’s a sense that what we do actually matters.

Very predictable days with lots of repetition over time on the job.  Low stress and pay for the roles are good.  Lots of people who have been there for many years and seniority is used to advance in most cases.  Great place for lawyers to work.  Highly recommended for securities lawyers.   Hardest part of the job was learning the vast amount of regulatory rules that were needed for the roles and applying them.  The work/family balance was the best part of the job.

My work in the IIROC has developed my customer relations and analytical skills. The large team base environment gave me confidence as a flexible team player.  My responsibilities for the cash receipts, reconciliation accounts, analyze dealers and markets fees, discipline penalties and OBSI fees often dealt with new and challenging scenarios.
This has raised my competency level to solve new problems.

The organization has so much to offer, people are generally nice, good benefits, reasonable pay though you would be paid more elsewhere, and you will learn a lot. But too much politics and toxic and arrogant managers kill the experience. There’s no intention of retaining good employees. Despite all corporate stunts, there’s no genuine care for employee wellness. People leave often because of the poor managers or mental health issues.

I could do my job and the front desk but was not asked to stay once my contract was up.  The set up in the office was great, I had my own office and my own printer.  The equipment was awesome. Lots of favouritism.  I didn't work directly for them, I was a temp

It’s amazing working here and have good work life balance. The people around are really helpful and approachable. Managers are awesome and cool. 
The only one thing that I find need to be improved is the pay package. 
It needs to be increased.

Political and toxic environment with mediocre management. Culture of favouritism leads to a sucking up culture with insecure managers relying on toe the line employees rather than nurturing talent.

Good place to work with friendly people. 
Management is very understandable.
Relax environment.
Slow pace dealing with project
Limited room to grow.
Often outsource technical and development projects to third-party.

The organization is spread out across Canada with offices in Vancouver, Calgary, Toronto and Montreal. Some offices are better. You learn a massive amount on information and gain a lot of knowledge of industry rules.

Management is wonderful, benefits are good, stable secure job. Great location downtown Toronto. Coworkers are pleasant. Many workers have been employed for decades.
