I've been plowing with Miller for 3 years now at the Burlington Yard...lets just say this is my LAST YEAR!!! This place is pathetic.  All the driver's signed a contract in Nov in regards to stand-by pay and work duties. Now they are changing the rules, after the contracts have been signed, and are refusing to pay employees their stand-by pay. They expect us to work min 18hrs a week....BUT there isn't any work to be done around the yard!! It is impossible for every driver to work 18hrs a week. We're suppose to come in and look for work to be done?!?!?! And if you don't work 18hrs min then they won't pay the guaranteed 24hrs a week. They've been docking peoples pay and not paying us what we agreed upon in the contract. And there's never enough drivers so have fun working 24hr winter events with NO RELIEF. Management sucks, work environment sucks. The only positive is they offered a good pay increase....but that does not outweigh all the negatives with this place. 

Tested gravel for quality, percent passing and graduation, if there was an oversize we reported to the tower the find.
I learnt to test various sizes of gravel and sieve analysis, we calculated the results and did data entries, there was two testers on site, we reported to the superientant in Quality Control where we were informed of our new samples and passing percents. Work well with our team, it was an enjoyable surrounding with fast pace work. The hardest part of the job was dodging rock trucks and loaders to get our samples of the belt at the crusher, safety is the most important aspect of the job. The most enjoyable part was the testing and results, every test is different but must stay constant. We got to sample a variety of aggregates to be rail at Standard General in Edmonton.

In your interview, they tell you that you get one day off a week and it's usually Sundays, but notta. You count on the rain to even see a day off and it's never on the weekend to see your family. As a flagger, you sit for 13 hours, give or take a couple hours, watching the road dry and keeping it closed from traffic. If someone drives on the road, even if you can't stop them, you're yelled at. If you ask to use the bathroom, you get told to wait, if someone even comes to relieve you so you can go to the washroom.. As a Labourer, you are expected to work alone most of the time, while completing tasks that two people should be doing. Managers will yell at you if you don't run to get things done, even other coworkers do the same. As for the pay, it's ok, but you make most of your money from OT so it helps.

Everyone talking behind everyone else's back 

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Some employees are ok if you're on their good side, management will give warnings every chance they can. Don't work here

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Expect to be able to do everything yourself because no one likes to work there or help. Walk in a swamp of mud and Rocks everywhere on the stairs so you can break your legs.
Management and the buttkisser team leader spends the day smoking and talking all day so he doesn't do any work and they all have an ego

- over 43 days to file an ROE and it still missed half of my hours 
- had to take a pay cut with no warning or take a position out of scope or be terminated
- left working in the field for 37 days when safety policy is 24 continuous days
- unsafe work areas, i.e. damaged platforms without handrails and off-centre supports and coordinator scoffed when concern raised
- coordinators take days to reply to correspondence, if at all
^these are just the first to come to mind

If you get a job with this company, make sure you document everything and don't leave until you have a hardcopy of your ROE in hand.

Supervision tell you what to do & leave you alone if you can handle the work 

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
There is no pressure on the operators as long as the job gets done properly and meets expectations . Supervidion is awesome , same as Management . 

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Bunch of good and easy going  arabic Lebanon people except a couple bad apples like anywhere else . 

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
10-12 hrs / Day . Safety toolbox meeting prior to start work day . 2 -15 min. break & 1/2 hr for Lunch . Clean your tracks at the end of your shift and go home . Working 5-6 days a week

I was a returning summer student and have worked for ACP for a few seasons already. I worked specifically for the Construction Division but they also allow you to float between divisions to maximize hours worked when each division is slow. This makes for a fast paced environment, and it can be stressful not knowing your schedule but they ultimately want to see employees be utilized to their maximum to ensure they are making a liveable wage. I have seen what some of the other reviews are referring to, in terms of a chaotic style, but what matters most is having a good attitude and work ethic. My foreman appreciated my effort and made sure to let me know.

Well great to work with the employees but upper management needs a lot of work there more worried about paper work then the needs of the employee. Amd working to make things better 

Lots of promises never delivered on any 
Hard being on call 24/7 and no recognition for work done  no perks for being on call 24/7 


Safety policies are a joke always cutting corners for jobs being done 

If you wanna get ahead in this company you gotta have a very brown nose and a huge yes man overall was a good place to work minus planning skills of Forman. 

Was a good place to work with the crew loved the work

Management has changed a lot -  favoritism and nepotism now reigns within the company.  People who have strong ties to management got promoted even without the required qualifications. Just as long as you know someone in the high management echelons, you are good to stay no matter how bad you perform. If you are a visible minority and you don't have anyone to back you up no matter how good you are, you go. There are bullies within the workplace which management turns a blind eye on; management doesn't talk to you at all and management doesn't care for you.

Work culture is terrible, no management skills, overseen by a Woke dictator. Be surprised if Corporate doesn’t dissolve the company. Unable to work for people that only operate on  their own agenda. Communication doesn’t exist. Project managers and coordinators are not held accountable. They show up when they feel like it or are pressured to show up. 
Supervisors think they work bankers hours. Although they mark hours more than the crews.  Can watch supervisors hiding near job sites but won’t answer their phones. Guess social media is to entertaining.
