I worked 22 years for Dow chemical I was a rectifier transformer specialist . I also was a North American plant trouble shooter and traveled with Dow to find issues that could not be solved by the existing tradesmen. My inventive nature earned me many awards for issues that were solved by my logical approach.
As well as being The electrical supervisor of the foam plantI I also worked for Dow at the Hydrocarbon plant as an Electrical inspector. Dow provides its workers many opportunities to learn new or aligned to my trade skills. I was a key resource person  to implement many new programs including CONTINUOUS IMPROVEMENT programs that made DOW a leader in the Chemical plant industry.  Many of the innovations I instigated or worked on with teams I volunteered for saved DOW millions in increased production and reduced cost. I have trained hundreds of apprentices.and have a tremendous hands on experience with supervision and electrical knowledge   
I feel I can contribute at least 10 years or more of  excellent service to any company. 
My health is good and I am willing to travel.

Great place to work as long as upper management likes you.  lots of areas for in-house training but little to no support for off site training. I have gained knowledge of troubleshooting instrumentation, method validation, and quality control. I’ve work with many advanced technologies like Sulfur chemiluminescence detector (SCD), Capillary Flow Technology (CFT), and pressurized liquid injection system (PLIS). There was a wide variety of co-workers at Dow many are nice few are not. The hardest part of the job was always justifying your existence and the importance of your position. Since I started a career at DOW two plants where shutdown and lots of cutbacks. The most enjoyable part of the job was the flexibility to get the job done. No one was over your shoulder telling you what you should do and in what order. You had your job responsibilities and you needed to do them.

very thing was great there. Its just a coworker that made life difficult
for me. she told the firemen a lot of lie saying I was stealing food from her fridge. I laugh when I heard it I had tons of food I use to cook on night shift for the firemen. next time I went to work she had a big chain wrapped around the fridge with a padlock, then she went on holidays the guy who shared the fridge with her bust the lock of so he  could get his food. I wrote her an email telling her I didn't take her food and to stop telling every one I did . I told my boss I emailed her he wasn't happy. he said she is going to be upset I Said excuse me I'm the one you should worried that's upset,he said you shouldn't of said anything. then I knew something is up Then I learn she had other fired because she didnt like them. anyway I got the boot

Dow Chemical really kickstarted my career in Instrumentation. They taught me a lot and were really patient for dealing with a 16 year old who was still in high school. They taught me the basic fundamentals about Instrumentation. Management was always great from what i saw, i never really interacted with them much. The workplace culture was always safety first and that was a huge impact as to how i work today. the hardest part of the job would have been working while i was still in school but they always gave me the benefit of the doubt. The most enjoyable part of the job was how much respect they would give me even though i was so young at the time. They treated me like a true adult and i will always have respect for everyone i worked with over there,

If management could get with the times and treat the operations staff better, than there wouldn't be a better place to work. Unfortunately their degrees don't automatically give them the required knowledge or training to be a "REAL" manager. Many empty promises to look into things that never materialize.

As far as plant goes, it is top notch.

Dow department management allowed me to set my own goals and goals for the department.  My organization was results focussed on deliverables including service, value preservation, and innovation.  Group and personal performance did impact rewards, however corporate performance was the overriding factor in determining pay increases, bonus, and promotions (in a given year).

Dow showed patience in developing peoples skills and allowed anyone with the ambition to strive forward as far as they wanted to.
A typical day of work was usually full of challenges and as chief the hardest part of my job was trying to stay impartial in dealing with people, both co-workers and management. If you were good at your job you learned every day and I enjoyed every bit of it.

A typical day is from 7:30-4:00, and that is flexible. I have learned the Dow way of doing things, the management is present but not mircromanaged. The people I work with on a day to day basis are cooperative and friendly. The hardest part is not being able to advance. I really enjoy the flexibility of having the opportunity to do my outside of work activities

Wonderful career until downsized in 2001 at the salary level of $85,000/year. Had window offices and I was very good at problem solving, follow up, and field sales interaction and support.

Enjoyed the travel, the people, the work and would be still working there until now, had I not been downsized and company moved to Midland, Michigan.

This company is laying off Canadian workers to beef up Indian office staff. 
The offices are old and investment in the fort Sask. site is really awful.
For a "BIG" company, you won't expect them to ask employees to pay for their own pizza and contribute towards team building.
