Working for Devon is like working with a loving family.  Everyone works hard but still have time for camaraderie, to readily offer assistance in any workload or to offer sympathy when stressed just to show they care.

That is why the hardest part of the job is being let go due to cost cutting with the oil price in crisis.

It was a great place to work in the beginning, with fantastic people and a thriving work environment.  Unfortunately, with the economic outlook turning grave for Oil & Gas, the project cancellations and lay-offs it became a difficult work place for everyone. In the end it was a dog eat dog world where even the survivors lived with guilt and incessant worry.  Tough work environment for management and employee's.

I worked at Devon for almost three years as a summer intern and part-time contractor while going to post-secondary. I enjoyed the culture, employees, and especially loved the in-house fitness center.

Great place to work with excellent rewards, however so much uncertainty on job security.
They do encourage a work life balance as well as encourage volunteerism.

There is always something to learn each day and opportunities to develop your skills. Culture of having a fun, friendly and honest work environment.

Challenges are inevitable but through these challenges emerge how each individual contributes to the success of any project.

Company values integrity and hard work, most especially people.
Drive for profits balanced by strive for culture. Reward for performance very effective while open and honest management matters.

I would use ticketing systems to help keep track of and prioritize daily work load and issues. Great support from management down to co-workers. Most enjoyable part of my job was resolving network connectivity issues.

I enjoyed my time at Devon Canada immensely! Great senior management. A few middle management people were not great at leading the people on the floor, but there was usually a way to deal with that.

I miss working there.

Management isn't that great.  I felt left out of meetings and unable to be effective in my position.  Sitting in your office alone with nothing to do despite asking for work is not great.

Great company to work for loved it there and was treated very well, would have stayed until i retired but was part of a large layoff due to low oil prices.
