In my experience, working here was consistently stressful, demoralizing, and emotionally exhausting. If you value stability, support, and being able to take pride in your work, I strongly recommend looking elsewhere.

The day-to-day work environment felt chaotic and inefficient. Basic tasks often became far more complicated than they needed to be, systems were unreliable, and processes changed frequently with little training or notice. This created constant frustration and made it very difficult to do the job well.

While many coworkers genuinely tried to do the right thing, the overall structure made meaningful improvement feel nearly impossible. Over time, this became deeply discouraging.

One of the hardest parts of the job was absorbing resident frustration. As a front-line employee, I regularly dealt with anger, hostility, and emotional stress. This took a real toll and was not matched with adequate support or protection for staff.

Compensation was acceptable, but growth felt extremely limited. Raises did not exist nor did any extended benefits, and job security felt uncertain. This created ongoing financial and emotional instability.

Overall, my experience at Devon was exhausting and disheartening. I left feeling burned out, undervalued, and relieved to be gone. Based on my experience, I would strongly caution others to carefully consider whether this is truly the environment they want to work in.

You will interact with various types of people and have to use your critical thinking and problem solving skills to come to a resolve on the daily. There are definitely busier times of the months and then you have the calm, which you should use to fine tune or catch up on tasks. You are not micro managed, however expected to manage your time - you should know the difference. 
If you are up for a challenge and want to lead; without repetition in the ever changing day to day world of residential multi-family dwellings .... this is the place for you.  Never be afraid to put your hand up for help if needed, the support is there, you just have to have the courage to ask.  Definitely not a typical 9-5 job, you are depended on by others and may have to work out side the regular hours, and if its justified, not poor time management on your part, then the overtime is there. 

I come to work each day knowing that I have a great group of people to work with and the knowledge that I will be dealing with something new and exciting each day. The job is never boring!

We are a very experienced brokerage that has all forms of apartment living and the knowledge and personnel to perform property management that both honors our clients and tenants alike.

The rentals market has changed considerably over the last decade and Devon has recognized these changes and implemented accordingly to maintain a stable and steady course of serving our community and clients.

I have had a  positive experience working at this company, which stands out for its exceptional work-life balance—something I had not encountered in any previous role. Excellent employer, allowed for lots of autonomy and management rewards initiative. 

Over the last few years there has been a concerted effort to separate and specialize departments and roles to accommodate their rapid expansion, and I anticipate that the role definitions and workflow have continued to improve since my departure.

Most importantly, during the uncertain early months of the Covid pandemic, management provided clear and consistent messaging and prioritized the safety and health of both their employees and tenants. 

Though property management is a challenging industry, Devon Properties provided me with both the support, and freedom to make it rewarding.

Typical day was stressful. What we learnt was we had poor leadership in management which  caused many good employees to quit.
No organization skills with supervisors so they blame the mess on lower employees. Job culture was really toxic and tenants were often upset. Unprofessional how property manager talked to tenants. Spent money on office equipment but ignored crucial repairs to building. Removed double rent from portal and was unapologetic to tenants. Their motto was to collect their fee but they showed no concern over owners investment. Left crucial maintenance to worsen and cared less about owners investment. Employees and tenants were replaceable. Most enjoyable part of working there was knowing why anyone would quit or end up on stress leave.

I've been with the company for many years and have moved up in position over that time. The company has gone through a rapid expansion in the last 5 or so years that has brought about many challenges, but has also created many new roles that never existed before. There is a lot of opportunity for movement within the company. The growing pains are still being felt as things have yet to settle, and some processes continue to be tweaked, especially as new software is brought on board to help with the growth of the company. And ideas for improvement are always welcomed. It can be a demanding job, but also rewarding if you are prepared to put in the effort. 

The interview process went very well and overall  I thought this company was organized. However upon accepting the job things just feel apart. It was twenty days before I received the company supplied laptop which prevented me from carrying out my duties and understanding the real property portfolio. The Laptop had the required apps. which included the information that required processing daily which I was unable to do. Then it was another 2 weeks before I received the company supplied cell phone. No access! to my fellow workers or the personal that reported to me! Whow just unbelievable! 

Sorry I was even involved with this company. 

The work experience at Devon Properties' corporate office is very balanced and filled with eager colleagues/managers that are willing to help get things done right and help you learn the tricks of the trade. The benefits package offered and wages are fair, and it's the only job I've had where I enjoy coming to work daily and can disconnect from when I get home. Every task has its challenges, but nothing is impossible to learn and do. 

From day 1 I have had to train myself on all the programs we use. Can't choose my own tenants to suit the buildings. Never see my manager (of whom I've had 3). Get no benefits, lots of driving but $50 a mth for gas. No rent reduction so have to commute. Long days, on call 24/7 with very occasional weekend cover. They constantly lose rent payments, paperwork & seem very disorganized. Too many cooks spoil the broth.
Don't get invited to anything & zero bonuses. Upper management gets all the perks.
