Typical day at work: We'd spend our day taking phone calls like any other call center, but everything ran so smooth. Our system hardly ever malfunctioned, you really feel like the management is on your level, and it's so small that no one is 'a number'. 

I learned a lot about funerals in different religions and cultures. My customer service skills were really refined in my time with this company, because you're dealing very sensitive situations and there's no room for error or attitude.

Management: The management at this company is impeccable. I only ever went to management with one problem, and they took care of it within 5 minutes, rather than putting it aside until they had time. I've never worked for a company where I felt more comfortable talking to the higher-ups. The owner gave us all Christmas presents and really made us feel like he appreciated us.

Co-Workers: When you work for such a small company, everyone tends to know each other. Everyone here seemed like a big family in the workplace. Everyone always worked together to make the call flow run more smoothly.  

Hardest part of the job: Talking to people minutes after their loved ones passed away. This is what did me in for this job.. I couldn't spend 8 hours a day being sad anymore.. The calls were devastating and every time I took a call, I was still sad from the last one.

Most enjoyable part of the job: Absolutely everything else.

A typical day of work I would take calls in regards to someone passing away and setting up appointments to have bodies removed. I learned quite a bit of how to handle certain situations, learned how to be very professional and understanding, and it made me better at caring and being empathetic.
Adding people to attend seminars at restaurants for information on cremation.
 Management there was very excellent, they really took the time to help and be empathetic . 
The hardest part of the job was dealing with upset people as they are calling in to report someone passing away. For the most part it was easy enough to handle, it just all depended on how upset they were. But I always tried hard to make them feel better at the end of every call.
The most enjoyable part of the job was bringing someone's spirits up due to how they were feeling, and helping them through a very difficult time in their life.

Things used to be awesome until MAP bought them out. Things just slowy got stricter, they took away incentives and employee activities and now in the middle of a system conversion  making us take calls for Maps other call centers as "practice for the new system" with absolutely no knowledge of the accounts or call types we are taking. Anything from medical related, attorneys, waste removal, HVAC and A/C repair, construction companies ect, it's super random and stressful because no one knows what they're doing because it's nothing we ever been trained on. Moral is terrible, employees that have been here for years are all leaving and they just keep pushing for more and writing up people who don't want to comply due to mental health/stress. I wouldn't recommend working here. 

The only good thing about this place is the restaurant inside the building. Management is so focused on the customer, that the employee ends up getting the brunt of it when you have a negative call, which is more often than not. Will deduct points for not sounding cheerful enough, even though it's for funeral homes, and you get harrassed on your days off/when you call out. Management expects you to dedicate your entire life to this job. No work/life balance because you have ten hour shifts of people screaming and yelling at you and you can't do anything about it. Customer service is horrible and, even if they do know what they're talking about, they act like you're inconveniencing them by calling. Don't work here, for the sake of your sanity.

Toxic hierarchy, adding work load slyly without pay increase, high stress, gas lighting management, not even the management/supervisors or people who have been there too long are aware of the toxicity themselves.
If you work there, record and screen-shot all conversations had with employees , all sign ins for your shifts.
 This job makes the people who have been there a long time, somewhat petty (understandably). Or idiotically unaware of how true healthy work place relations should be. Tread carefully. Know your workplace rights.

It wasn’t a great job. High turn over rate, so many people quitting all the time. You had to ask permission to go to the bathroom even if you were working from home. There was a few supervisors that were really great that made getting through the shift better. You got frequently yelled at by funeral directors and people calling in. The system they use doesn’t benefit you, the customer service agent when taking calls. It paid my bills, but I was so overwhelmed and anxious every day. 

Management has 0 guidelines to follow, so most day to day decisions are fly by wire. Starting as a small company then being purchased by a large conglomerate did not translate well. There is no real infrastructure so you will often times find employees who have been there well under a year , responsible for training new hires.

Benefits to the job are the ability to work from home, but the hardware is dated and not well maintained so slow speeds and lag are real problems, and for a call centre that is not a good thing.

No morale and high stress for low pay at $15.45 an hour. You'd make more working at McDonald's for less stress. Expect to be bled dry until you have nothing left. Reps are required to ask permission to go to the bathroom. Non existent HR department. If something happens to you, oh well! No communication, mismanaged, disorganized, unprofessional. 

Inbound calls regarding funeral related events and planning. Relaying the information to funeral home staff. Working from home while still feeling like part of the team. Supportive management with endless perks. Amazing community of people.

Just don’t apply here. The place is terrible to work for and if something happens to you they won’t make any effort to correct it. They especially don’t care about your mental health. You are just a number to them, not a human being. Run as fast as you can. They also play favouritism. So if they don’t like you, you will never advance.
