Dog Tales Rescue and Sanctuary

I've been a part time cleaner for a little while at Dog Tales, and given past experiences at other companies, this company is a great place to work. There is high expectations put on staff to give the greatest care possible to dogs and other animals at the sanctuary, which results in a fast paced environment and high expectations on staff, however there is great team work involved, most staff encounters are friendly and people are quick to jump in and help out if you find yourself overwhelmed. I received on the job training for a couple of weeks to ease me into job duties, and I still have moments where I need to ask for help, as there is a lot to learn and get used to. However, I have never felt reprimanded or been made to feel anything negative as a result. I would recommend that applicants take into account that the cleaning job is going to be hard on your body at first as you get used to it. Also, keep in mind that as this is a dog kennel it can be loud and overstimulating at times. Overall, it is rewarding to see the dogs in the care of Dog Tales be taken care of so well and be given so much attention, as this is the goal and purpose of the staff who work here. The property is well maintained and beautiful. I would say this job gives you back what you give it, if you come with a good attitude and a willingness to work hard, you will enjoy working here. If you're looking for a job where you can slack off, this is not the place to apply. 

Very rewarding to be able to help the animals, a great learning experience for anyone to gain knowledge about dogs and farm animals. Very fast paced and very physically demanding but makes the days go by fast and no need for a gym membership! 

I had a ton of people openly help me during the first week of working, after that it gets easy to catch on, there is a LOT of information to take in but gets easier as time goes on and lots of people who are able to help answer questions as needed.

Hours are good, equal day shifts and night shifts and rotated weekend days off (a saturday or a sunday) unless requested off. 

Pay is great for the field of work and is way above what other animal rescues/shelters pay, salary after 3 month, great benefits and paid vacation days. 

This however is a job that you have to put your 100% into every day and can require to work after hours, for example: helping with intakes of dogs that can happen at any time of the day/night, staying late to make sure things are done, coming in early to help the team (not mandatory but some people do) you are responsible for showing dogs and farm animals lots of love and to care for them which means going the extra mile to make sure they are as happy and as comfortable as possible!! 

At the end of the day it’s a very rewarding job and makes all the hard work an dedication worth it.

Lunch is an hour long and free food is provided daily! 

This place is absolutely horrible. I was an employee here for about a month and a bit, i was called in by management and was fired, i asked the reason and they said “i wasn’t the best fit” i asked for a more specific reason but that’s all they said. While i was working here i did everything i could, everything i was asked, everything that was supposed to be done, i asked questions to be sure of what i was doing correctly, i had not done anything wrong, i had 16 years of horse experience so i knew what i was doing, nothing what new to me, so what was i fired for, absolutely no reason, they had no excuse to fire me which is why they couldn’t give me a reason! i recommend never going to this place or working at this place, they will just fire you for no reason, im not the first this has happened to. It is absolutely sickening that they do this all the time. 

I can't express how disappointed I am with my experience working at Dog Tales Sanctuary. This place is nothing short of a nightmare for anyone looking for professional growth and a healthy work environment. From the moment I joined, it was clear that there's no room for advancement, and the overall atmosphere reeks of entitlement.

First and foremost, the lack of opportunities for growth is astounding. It's as if the management wants to keep everyone in their place, stifling any ambition or desire for career progression. I've witnessed coworkers with incredible potential being held back, their ideas dismissed, and their efforts seemingly ignored. It's demoralizing to work in an environment where your hard work goes unnoticed and unappreciated.

Dog Tales has been an amazing place for my career to grow. It is very hard to find a company in the animal care industry that will invest in your education and salary. I can see myself working here as a long term career. Management has definitely improved throughout the years. I believe a lot of people don’t understand the commitment and emotion that goes into a shelter and rescue. Management provides support and therapy for the hard days that we are bound to have in this line of work. 

Amazing place to work if you enjoy working with animals. Super friendly staff, they give very thorough training for new employees. Owners are amazing and care so much for the animals and staff. They give full benefits, and also have a chef that cooks lunch and dinner for all employees every single day! The animals get better care than any facility I’ve ever seen before. Would give 100 stars if I could, can’t imagine a better workplace. 

If you like being verbally degraded in front of your coworkers, this is the place for you! If you love working hard for little to no reward, and hate getting raises or incentives to work, pls apply! If you love constant workplace drama and a toxic higharchy with power hungry ego boosting "team leads" and managers who don't know what they're doing, and have no empathy, you'd love it here!

The job at the start seems very easy and laid back, was warned by many previous employees it was just a coverup to the real biased chaos. If you know anything about horses you don’t last in the barn, the staff turnover should be indication in itself for all divisions at this place! The HR department is one person who claims they can’t help you as they look after hundreds of staff. 

Everyone there was super rude, if you ask questions about things they talk down to you or act like you are stupid when really you were never properly trained, gossip everywhere, older staff are not welcoming to new staff whatsoever, the only good part about the job was the food and the animals.

It seems that this place has really turned itself around. I have worked here for a while now and don't find any of the bad reviews to be true. Everyone is so friendly and helpful here. You can tell the animals really appreciate all the care and love they get.
